About you

  • A strong academic background with a degree in Civil Engineering and/or a Master's degree in Water resources/Hydraulics/Geoinformatics/Environmental Engineering.
  • Academic project experience of using GIS; MapInfo, ArcGIS, and open-source GIS tools.
  • Appreciation of water resources modelling, including supporting production of Statutory Plans such as drought plans and Water Resource Management Plans (WRMP)
  • Appreciation of operational planning, or supporting companies with drought permit / order applications
  • Understanding of what goes into a WRMP, such as calculating various components of the supply-demand balance, demand forecasting, options appraisal, uncertainty and risk (e.g. headroom and outage), and investment modelling
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical reports in English.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and clients via video conferencing.
  • Adherence to quality procedures and maintaining high standards in your work.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and work procedures.

Overview

Water Management Consultancy (WMC) is a key part of the Infrastructure division within AtkinsRéalis' Water and Environment Business. Serving both UK and international clients, our projects span a wider range of specialisms – including environmental chemistry, water quality, catchment management, hydrology/water resource planning, flood modelling, and geomorphology.

As a Water Resource Modelling Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our water management solutions. Collaborating with a friendly and accomplished team, you'll contribute to projects that safeguard our environment, and ensure a reliable and sustainable supply of clean water to our client's customers even as climate, populations and demand change in the future. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in an industry that's'evolving rapidly.
