Overview
The Field Service Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Site inspection services and construction auditing services team for Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects in Ontario. This role ensures that all site inspections and construction audits are conducted in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project/contract specifications.
Your role
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all site inspections and construction auditing services for T&D projects to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Lead and manage a team of inspectors and auditors, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality inspection/auditing services. Mentor field technicians, ensuring productivity, safety, and technical excellence.
- Work with project schedulers to ensure adequately trained and qualified staff are available to cover all project assignments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, resolving technical/site issues and ensuring Client satisfaction.
- Review and enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to industry regulations and company standards. Provide client with information and participate in Safety incident investigations. Evaluate and adjust safety training requirements depending on project needs.
- Track service metrics, prepare performance reports, and recommend process improvements.
- Oversee tools, parts, and equipment needed for field operations.
- Develop and implement quality assurance protocols to ensure the integrity and reliability of inspection processes.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, presentations and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address inspection/auditing-related issues and ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure all inspection activities comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Identify areas for improvement in inspection processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

About you
- Minimum of 25 years of experience in Electrical Utility industry with extensive experience in both Transmission and Distribution construction and maintenance activities, in urban, rural and remote areas.
- High Voltage Electrical Trades Red Seal, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Leadership skills with 10+ years of management/supervisory experience, and the ability to promote collaboration and a positive environment for a team of field staff.
- Thorough understanding of Government Regulators, including Electrical Safety Authority (in regards to O. Reg 22/04), Ontario Energy Board, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills. Deep understanding of electrical systems and industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, address and resolve potential inspection-related challenges, while being committed to safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, lead under pressure, while managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing field conditions.
