Transportation Project Director

Overview

We are seeking a Transportation Project Director to join our team in Atlanta, GA to lead and work on various projects for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Your role

  • In coordination with the Sector Manager, Division Managers, Regional Business Development and Sales Director, and local team, this position will be responsible for managing and growing AtkinsRéalis business with GDOT. The Project Director will support the business development and entire project portfolio for the with GDOT. This passionate leader will work closely with the Georgia Sector Manager, GDOT KAM, TPO, other GDOT Division Managers, and the local team to set and implement business strategy and client development along with staff development.
  • Be a dedicated business builder who will utilize existing relationships to identify and pursue business opportunities as well as recruit top technical staff.
  • Possess a background in winning and serving clients on major projects, a sound technical background, excellent communication and organizational skills and thorough knowledge and understanding of GDOT.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Work with leadership to promote design excellence, provide leadership and mentoring while driving the strategic plan for the account.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the business unit to maximize profitability, marketing capabilities, operational efficiencies, and quality.

About you

  • B.S. and/or M.S. in Engineering with a concentration in Transportation.
  • 15-20 years of relevant experience in highway, roadway, traffic and/or bridge engineering.
  • P.E. license
  • Experience leading transportation design projects for the Department of Transportation (preferably Georgia), local Georgia municipal clients such as Cobb and Gwinnett County.
  • Relationships with GDOT and local municipalities, Operations experience (led a P&L, division, etc), Contract and Project Management experience, led teams of PMs and engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, public speaking, and persuasive ability.
  • Technical design, writing, computer, and communication skills are required.
  • Experience with managing people, project scope, budget and schedule are desirable.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $160,000 - $230,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
