Overview

Working within the AtkinsRéalis UK & Ireland Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) team, to ensure the HSE data and systems in use across the region are reliable and accurate to enable the business to access and use it with confidence.

To explore with the business how to manage data streams efficiently and use this information to provide insights for improvements to drive continuous improvement in health, safety, environment and wellbeing.

Supporting the HSE team in the provision of regular updates in various forms to the business, to keep all staff informed of changes, updates and best practice that may impact their work.

Your role

  • Daily checks of event data entered into the EcoOnline HSE system to ensure that data is consistently entered, additional information is identified and added as required and the appropriate members of the HSE team are informed of key events reported.
  • Working with the HSE Systems & Assurance Manager to review events weekly and ensure appropriate action is taken in terms of immediate action, escalation and investigation as appropriate, following up with reporters as needed and making required changes in EcoOnline to ensure data consistency.
  • Adding in additional reports to EcoOnline from parts of the business where alternative on-site reporting routes are provided. (moving towards an automated approach to this).
  • Carrying out compliance checks on other activities added to EcoOnline (Leadership activities, actions logged across the platform etc) and provide updates to the HSE team to follow up with the business.
  • Supporting the HSE Systems & Assurance Manager in collating the monthly data for reporting to the business including confirmation of injury and close call numbers, producing monthly reports for the business units and internal clients and reviewing and inputting the worked hours for the business.
  • Supporting the HSE System & Assurance Manager in producing the monthly MBR pack including KPI data.
  • Compiling and processing data for reporting to key clients (e.g. Network Rail) using their reporting templates and upload requirements.
  • Identifying changes to industry standards and sharing with key people in the business to ensure they are assessed for impact on the business. Completing compliance checks on these activities and following up for completion.
  • Production of regional communication to the business on key HSE changes and updates, collaborating with HSE Business Partners to ensure all business unit specific updates are identified and included.
  • Production of regular updates on key events reported across the business.
  • Support with management of HSE documents on the global governance library and local business unit document libraries as appropriate.

About you

  • Experience in managing large data sets and an understanding of the importance of consistency and quality checks on data to ensure high quality data that can be trusted.
  • Experience of using data management systems and working within these to manage data rules
  • Experience of developing dashboards, using both dashboard capabilities within a system and external management information software such PowerBI.
  • Experience of reviewing data and providing guidance on what the data is saying in a clear, easily understandable way.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain what potentially complex data means to the audience and how they can use it to identify and drive HSE improvements.
  • Knowledge of HSE systems desirable.
  • Desire to complete relevant HSE training to support understanding and interpretation of the data essential.
