Within Canada, our Rail & Transit team has been selected to design and deliver most of the recent Greenfield and Brownfield LRT, ALRT and Light Metro jobs awarded in the last 15 years including the Trillium Line (Ottawa), Le Réseau express métropolitain (Montreal), Canada Line, Edmonton North LRT, the Evergreen Line and the Confederation Line. We are actively working on delivering the Alto High-Speed Rail (Quebec City to Toronto), Calgary Green Line LRT, Surrey Langly Skytrain, and have several other projects at the proposal stage or awaiting award. In addition, the Human Factors team works with international clients outside of Canada.

Our Rail, Transit and Telecoms team deliver systems solutions that include alignment and track, traction power and distribution, signalling and train control, and communications. One of the key components of our systems delivery is Human Factors encompassing the engineering work required to manage the complex engineering of systems, sub-systems and components of a rail transit project in accordance with international standards. In light of our current and future workloads, our Systems Engineering and Integration directorate is looking for a Human Factors Specialist.

Your role

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Development of Human Factors processes and documentation.

  • Support of all aspects of Human Factors assignments undertaken for clients including estimating, tendering, planning and execution.

  • Ensure that excellent client communication is maintained and work is completed on time, to budget, and to the client's satisfaction.

  • Create, manage and maintain effective cross-functional, interdepartmental relationships to promote Human Factors and ensure the organisation delivers the most valuable service to customers.

  • Provide high quality services to the rail industry in the field of Human Factors.

  • Support for System Assurance/V&V/ Requirements Management teams in the delivery of mass transit, urban rail and heavy freight systems.

  • Identify opportunities to develop the Human Factors client and work package base.

About you

  • First or Second level degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics/Applied Psychology or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience of applying Human Factors standards and expertise, including the full breadth of HFE, ergonomics, usability and accessibility.

  • Certified Human Factors and Ergonomics Professional (CCPE, BCPE, CIEHF etc.).

  • Experience of working within engineering project teams and/or working within railway systems and their human interfaces.

  • Bilingue English and French.

  • Travel: Base location in order of preference: Montreal, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Other Canadian Locations.

    • Must be willing to travel to project sites.

    • Must be willing to travel to vendor locations.

    • Must be able to work away from home for short periods of time.
