Overview

AtkinsRéalis is growing and our Western Canadian Engineering group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. Our engineers support the execution of a wide variety of projects by providing technical expertise, leadership to staff, and support for business development activities. Technical knowledge of mechanical systems in buildings, rail and transportation, industrial, or nuclear environments will set you apart.

Our Engineering Services teams are located in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver and they are dynamic and tight-knit community of professionals, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects as part of distributed virtual project teams. Our projects are varied and span Healthcare, National Defense, Light + Heavy Industrial, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Ports + Marines +Tunnels), Municipal, Federal (including Defense + Nuclear), and Institutional industries.

Your role

  • Manage mechanical engineering project deliverables in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards in either a project management or engineer of record capacity.
  • Lead and support business development initiatives, including proposal writing, building client relationships, and strategic planning for the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Engineering group in Western Canada.
  • All of our engineers apply project management, leadership, technical principles to oversee projects and mentor team members. Responsibilities also include collaborating with other engineering disciplines and communicating project status, issues, and solutions to stakeholders, including clients, management, and other departments to ensure successful project outcomes.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with your local provincial engineering association, and willing to become a member in other provinces.
  • Minimum 15 years' of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering consulting with progressive responsibilities. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and relevant industry standards.
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience is an asset. PMP designation or CAPM certification is also an asset.
  • Strong business acumen and client facing skills. Demonstrable experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing our business).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Not all candidates will have experience with every aspect of this responsibilities list. We encourage applicants to apply even without experience in all of the above areas. Candidates with experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, pressure vessels, tank design, piping systems, materials handling systems, process equipment, steam systems, compressed air system, utilities, potable water, light rail systems, sanitary systems, medical gases, nuclear facilities, chemical plans, refineries, mining, mineral processing, health care, defense, or any other industry described above are encouraged to apply highlighting their specific area of expertise or interest.
