Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Plant 3D Piping & P&ID Designer to join our Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Mumbai. The Plant 3D Piping & P&ID Designer is responsible for developing accurate 3D piping models, layouts, P&IDs, and related engineering deliverables using Autodesk Plant 3D in support of multidisciplinary projects across Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals, Conventional & Renewable Power, and Nuclear facilities. The role involves routing piping with consideration for process flow, equipment access, maintenance, safety, constructability, and future expansion while incorporating sector‑specific constraints such as high‑volume utilities, abrasive slurry services, high‑pressure steam systems, and nuclear safety‑class and seismic requirements.

Your role

  • Responsibilities include developing and maintaining P&IDs based on process inputs, ensuring compliance with applicable ASME and ANSI standards, generating isometrics, fabrication drawings, BOMs, tie‑in details, equipment layouts, and construction drawings, and participating in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews using Navisworks.
  • The designer works closely with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, safety, and quality teams to resolve clashes, address constructability issues, maintain consistent CAD standards, and produce audit‑ready documentation.
  • Develop detailed 3D piping models in Autodesk Plant 3D for industrial, mining, power and nuclear plants.
  • Route piping considering process flow, equipment accessibility, maintenance, expansion, and safety requirements.
  • Incorporate sector-specific constraints such as:
    • Industrial: high-volume utilities, continuous process layout.
    • M&M: abrasive slurry lines, rugged environments, large equipment footprints.
    • Power: high-pressure steam lines, turbine building layout constraints.
  • Nuclear: strict safety-class piping, seismic considerations, redundancy.
  • Develop, update, and maintain P&IDs in line with process engineering input.
  • Ensure compliance with sector-relevant standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).
  • Generate piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, BOMs, tie-in details, equipment layout drawings, and support drawings.
  • Work closely with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, safety, and quality teams.
  • Participate in 30%, 60% and 90% model reviews using Navisworks or similar tools.
  • Resolve design clashes, construction feasibility issues, and ensure alignment with project execution strategy.
  • Maintain consistent CAD standards, design methodologies and practices.
  • Produce documentation suitable for audits.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Degree / Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related discipline.
