Overview

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Regulation and Assurance Lead, to help grow our Regulation and Assurance capability while contributing to a diverse portfolio of technical projects across our Water business.

As part of our Consulting & Strategic Advisory practice, our Water team works at the intersection of people, regulation and the water environment. We help regulated water utilities deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment, along with supporting economic regulators in pricing submission reviews. The team brings together a diverse, high‑performing team with deep technical expertise, strong regulatory insight and a collaborative, digitally enabled approach, delivering high‑quality advisory services and independent technical assurance that drive real change for communities.

You will join a highly respected global technical team, working on a broad range of regulatory and assurance engagements. As the leader of this service in Australia, you will play a key role in shaping strategy, driving growth, and building our reputation for technical excellence. The role involves working collaboratively with our global capability and technical leads, as well as the Australian Water Market Lead, to win and deliver work, support teams across the country, and contribute to projects throughout Australia, with opportunities to support international clients.

Your role

As a global leader in technical assurance, audit, price reviews and utility contracting, working across Australia and internationally, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of high‑impact projects. In this role, you will:

  • Lead and deliver projects across audit, technical assurance and regulatory price reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with AtkinsRéalis teams and multidisciplinary specialists, including engineers, scientists, economists and customer experts, to provide integrated client solutions.
  • Support client enquiries and contribute key input into proposals and business development activities.
  • Produce high‑quality client and public‑facing deliverables, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tailor messages and insights for a range of audiences, including Audit Committees, Boards, customer groups, investors and regulators.

About you

  • An ambitious leader, excited by the prospect of creating and leading a regulatory assurance service line in Australia, leveraging AtkinsRéalis' global capability and local reputation.
  • Leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead, inspire, collaborate, and engage effectively
  • A known leader within the Australian water sector, with a strong network.
  • Able to establish trusted relationships with clients and get satisfaction from meeting/exceeding client expectations.
  • Possess a proactive and client-focused attitude towards delivery
  • Experience working in, or closely with, regulated water utilities, particularly in performance reporting and the development or assurance of investment and business plans.
  • Technical background in project management and/or one or more of: water, wastewater, water resources, water quality or biosolids, with knowledge of customer services and billing also advantageous.
  • Understanding of how technical disciplines link to the financial drivers of a utility business, including capital and operational expenditure, investment planning and price setting.
  • Strong client focus with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues in a highly collaborative consulting environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline; chartered status (or working towards) is desirable.
  • The location of role is flexible across the East Coast of Australia, with hybrid-working supported and with potential offices including Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
