Overview
As a new member of the procurement engineering (electrical) department, you will involve with a variety of exciting projects supporting the design and modifications for the electrical power system for Candu and other nuclear power plants.
Your role
- Assist in development, preparation of engineering procurement support deliverables (e.g. equipment and component specifications, calculations, bills of materials (BOMs), technical assessments, vendor document evaluations etc.) for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Prepare and/or review procurement engineering documentation such as Procurement Requisitions, Engineering Quotation Request Packages(s) and Technical Tender Evaluations for equipment and materials.
- Perform procurement engineering work (electrical) following AtkinsRéalis/CANDU Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide procurement engineering support for conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed design phases to support CANDU and other Nuclear electrical power systems and modifications.
- Provide technical support to engineering stakeholders to analyze technical requirements, vendor provided information and documentation and identify suitable suppliers.
- Review and acceptance of Manufacturer's documentation (Procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, Non-Conformances and/ or Design Deviation Requests) and obtain client acceptance, as required.
- Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, quality assurance, project control, document control, engineering stakeholders, and other design disciplines to execute assigned procurement engineering work.
- Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within the given budget and schedule, and in good quality.
- Provide a prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering-related matters.

About you
- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- 8-10 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry.
- Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, and schedules, and calculation of power demand/electrical load lists.
- Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations.
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
- Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems.
- Good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I, and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
- Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as Transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centers, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters, and Diesel Generators (emergency and standby), power and control, and instrumentation cables.
- Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve procurement engineering issues or technical problems.
- Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and a good ability to interact and communicate (both verbally and in writing) professionally with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
