Overview

The AtkinsRéalis UK Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and the home unit for our project management staff. The team is responsible for the delivery of design services across our Markets of Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Aviation, Energy and Transport. These may be delivered as single major projects or as programmes of smaller projects. Our clients include Welsh Water, Wessex Water, Severn Trent, Thames Water, AWE, Babcock, Balfour Beatty, DIO, EDF, the Environment Agency, Stansted, Heathrow and Birmingham Airport, High Speed 2, and many more. We have exciting new opportunities in our Project Delivery Practice for Project Managers. These individuals will be responsible for delivering multi-disciplinary projects or packages of work on larger projects from concept through to construction, supporting our expanding portfolio of the biggest and most challenging projects across all Market Sectors.

Your role

  • Deliver projects successfully against agreed targets, including programme, budget, quality, health and safety, sustainability and client satisfaction. Identify and agree project objectives with the Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Project Director (PD) and develop a clear strategy for achieving them. Identify, escalate and manage any matters that could pose a contractual or commercial risk to AtkinsRéalis at the earliest opportunity, setting objectives, defining tasks for the project team, delegating authority and agreeing how risks will be shared with the SPM/PD as necessary.
  • Actively manage the project, both technically and financially, in accordance with corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures. Monitor and report performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets, taking or advising the SPM/PD on any necessary mitigation actions to prevent targets being missed. Control change and manage an effective change control process.
  • Lead the project team by building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding and developing team members. Provide regular feedback, support an inclusive and collaborative working environment, and ensure staff have the necessary health and safety training to discharge their design duties. Define clear lines of communication and responsibilities for co-ordination within the project. Close out the project on completion, archive project documentation, update market information, capture and share lessons learned, and ensure that a Client Satisfaction survey is initiated.
  • Facilitate communication, co-ordination and information flow with the client and within the project team, including subcontractors and internal or external partners. Agree resource levels, project personnel and milestones internally with the project delivery team and externally with the client and other project contributors. Establish a bottom-up estimate of project costs.
  • Assemble and own the project delivery programme and delivery plans. Provide project reports on a regular basis to convey cost and schedule information in a timely manner, as required internally or externally. Protect the commercial interests of AtkinsRéalis, including timely and accurate invoicing and effective credit control for optimal cash flow, with support from the finance team. Compare revenue with predicted costs and identify risk allowances, margin and provisions at project set-up and monthly thereafter, including Earned Value reporting.
