Overview
Become a vital member of our growing Northeast Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) team. This is an exciting opportunity to start or develop your career in project management, working alongside experienced project and programme professionals on a diverse range of infrastructure, transportation, defence, energy, nuclear, water and public sector projects.
We are looking for motivated individuals with strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills gained in sectors such as operations, administration, customer service, military service, retail, hospitality, construction, manufacturing, local government, education, engineering, logistics, finance, or any environment where coordination, planning and stakeholder engagement are important.

Your role
As an Assistant Project Manager / Project Support Officer, you will support the successful delivery of projects and programmes by:
- Providing administrative and coordination support to project and programme teams.
- Assisting with planning activities, schedules, actions and milestone tracking.
- Supporting project reporting, governance and performance monitoring.
- Preparing meeting materials, recording actions and tracking progress.
- Maintaining project documentation, registers and records.
- Coordinating stakeholders and supporting effective communication across teams.
- Assisting with risk, issue and change management activities.
- Supporting financial tracking, resource planning and project controls activities.
- Helping identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with clients, colleagues and wider project teams.
- Developing your project management knowledge and professional skills through mentoring and formal training.

About you
You do not need extensive project experience to be successful in this role. We are more interested in your attitude, potential and transferable skills.
We are looking for people who:

- Experience in administration, coordination, planning, scheduling or reporting roles.
- Exposure to projects, change initiatives or operational improvement activities.
- A degree, apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
- Membership of, or interest in joining, a professional body such as the APM.
- Experience working with data, reporting or business processes.
