Overview
Join our Transportation team as a Senior Engineer based in Trowbridge, supporting our Wiltshire Council client. You'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from major highway and infrastructure schemes to active travel initiatives and traffic signal refurbishments. These schemes are transforming how people live and work across Wiltshire, and you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams located both across the UK and internationally to bring them to life.
We offer flexible working arrangements, with the expectation that you will typically spend at least three days per week in your base office location.
Your role
- Lead the delivery of highway infrastructure improvement projects, contributing technical expertise to multi‑disciplinary design teams.
- Serve as the technical lead for active travel and urban realm schemes, including helping to shape local guidance and standards.
- Act as a Technical Reviewer, ensuring design compliance and overseeing the preparation and quality of design and construction‑ready documentation.
- Attend site during construction phases to resolve technical queries and support agreement of contractor payment applications.
- Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with Clients to support successful project outcomes.
- Develop collaborative working relationships with the Term Maintenance Contractor to support efficient project delivery.
- Contribute to work‑winning activities, including preparing bids, proposals and tenders.
- Support the growth and development of junior staff through technical training, coaching and mentoring.

About you
- A BEng, MEng, or MSc in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- IEng or CEng professional membership through recognised bodies such as ICE or CIHT, or clear evidence of progressing towards relevant professional accreditation.
- Extensive experience working with Local Authorities, particularly in the delivery of highway improvement projects, active travel schemes, and urban realm initiatives.
- Practical, hands-on knowledge of key industry standards and guidance, including the NEC form of Contract, TSRGD, Manual for Streets 2, DMRB, and the Specification for Highway Works.
- A strong track record of collaborative working, demonstrating agility, resourcefulness, resilience, and the ability to adapt effectively to change.
