Overview

We are seeking a qualified Rail Transport Planner with minimum 10 years' experience to join our Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East. The candidate must be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 5 years of traffic engineering, transport planning and traffic modelling experience.

Your role

  • This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
  • Understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.
  • Experience in public transport networks and familiarity with international transport planning standards and practices.
  • Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.
  • Experience in undertaking junction analysis to support the traffic impact assessments.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis and parking assessments.
  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Some experience project/financial management.
  • Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in traffic engineering, transport planning or traffic modelling.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning with Operations and Maintenance railway project exposure.
  • Knowledge of International public Transport Planning standards and procedures.
  • Has worked within a team.
  • Experience in the Middle East is preferred.
