As a graduate you will have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with industry experts and seasoned Geospatial data professionals. Together, you will uncover insights through employing advanced analytical techniques that solve important and impactful real-world problems. As part of our growing team of Geospatial data specialists, your contribution will be recognized and celebrated, empowering you to make a meaningful and lasting impact on our organization and data community. Our 80+ strong Geospatial and Digital Data Capture team have an enormous range of specialties and backgrounds, which is why we can work on and deliver a huge variety of projects.

Over the course of the programme, you will benefit from dedicated training and development opportunities carefully integrated into your scheme.

Degree requirements: Minimum 2.2 Bachelor’s; Earth Sciences, Geography, Geomatics, Geospatial, GIS, Surveying & Land, Surveying & Mapping Science

Typical locations: Bristol, London

What could you expect from this opportunity?

As part of this exciting opportunity, you will be engaged in a variety of projects across multiple dynamic markets. From Aerospace and Defence, to Energy, Government, Infrastructure, Security, Transport, Utilities, and beyond, your journey will be filled with both challenging and rewarding experiences across multiple industries.

Being a part of the team could see you providing a range of services covering the full lifecycle of location based information, from data acquisition and processing to spatial analysis and visualisation. Our drive is to deliver innovative, quality solutions to our clients enabling them to use data to make well informed decisions in a user friendly and intuitive environment. Our success lies in our integration across the AtkinsRéalis businesses, and our hunger to push geospatial solutions ever forward.

You could be involved in:

  • Advising and guiding clients on the geospatial applications of their projects, from basic constraints mapping for our environment teams to public engagement using ArcGIS Online Web Applications, such as Webmaps, StoryMaps or Dashboarding.
  • Building innovative processing tools to help clients solve their data challenges. These could be created through a variety of different software such as ArcGIS Pro, FME or Python/Arcade languages.
  • Supporting our win work opportunities by writing bids and selling our Geospatial and Digital Data Capture services to new and established clients across our markets.
  • Acquisition of Geospatial constraints data to conduct spatial analysis.
  • Capturing data digitally via aerial or ground surveying, using tools such as drones, ground penetrating radars, laser scanners and GPS.
  • Consulting clients on their data and survey strategies, data governance and data architecture to ensure our clients are compliant and forward-thinking.

Whether it’s optimizing supply chain operations, enhancing customer experiences, or making strategic business decisions, an appreciation for data’s role in driving organisational success is essential.

  • Analytical mindset and data literacy – the ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, capable of tackling complex problems and deriving actionable conclusions. While prior experience is not mandatory, a basic understanding of data concepts and tools will be advantageous.
  • Technical proficiency – as part of the Geospatial/Digital Data Capture team we are looking for people who have had experience with handling location-based datasets. Candidates should have a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Adaptability and flexibility – our graduate scheme involves rotating through various projects, therefore we are looking for individuals who can adapt and thrive in diverse environments, welcoming new challenges with an open mind.
  • Strong communication – clear and concise communication is crucial whether you are working collaboratively in a team or presenting to stakeholders. We need candidates who can articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Learning mindset and vision for career development – the data landscape is constantly evolving, and we encourage candidates who have a thirst for knowledge and drive to continuously learn and grow in their data careers.
