Project Delivery

Our Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is at the core of our major project delivery operations. Join us, and you'll have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most challenging infrastructure projects, from Hinkley Point C to Heathrow Airport, as well as Social Housing projects through our Edaroth business, and helping provide communities and children with a brighter future through the development of new schools.

These major multi-discipline projects will enable you to develop a strong and broad range of skills and enable you to develop your career across a diverse range of avenues within the business, and on some of the most important projects that are taking place in the UK today.

AtkinsRéalis Rail Systems Project Delivery provides whole life cycle solutions from scheme concept development to detailed design, construction, commissioning and asset management. We are delivering some of the UK’s largest projects. We directly influence the lives of people across the UK and overseas by improving their passenger experience, making their journeys better and making our world a greener place to live.  

Building Design

Join our specialist building surveying team and be part of a wider multi disciplinary environment delivering a full suite of building surveying services. We offer unique and extremely varied work with many high profile clients. 

You’ll manage several projects at any one time, most likely all falling within different sectors. Whether its local, national, or international, we work on pretty much anything property related across the public and private sector.

This blend of work and along with our in house property professionals will allow you develop and expand in your role and ultimately help you gain your Chartership with the RICS.

Our Heritage Consultancy team works with clients across the transport, energy, water, defence, aviation, residential and regeneration sectors to help deliver sustainable development while protecting and enhancing the historic environment. As a Graduate Heritage Consultant, you’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of archaeologists and heritage specialists supporting major infrastructure and development projects across the UK.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop a broad range of professional skills through a combination of office-based work, site visits and collaborative project delivery. Working alongside experienced consultants, you will contribute to all stages of the planning and development process, helping clients understand and manage heritage constraints, risks and opportunities.

Our cost and change management systems control cost at all project stages to deliver ‘no surprise’ financial conclusions. We provide a range of cost services, tailored to meet the requirements of each client, including cost control, tender documentation, and risk and value management.

When you join us as a Quantity Surveyor, you will help our teams provide expert advice to our clients on construction costs. Our Quantity Surveyors work with a diverse client base on various schemes. You’ll join highly motivated, knowledgeable, and dynamic teams that will ensure that you receive the right training and development opportunities required to achieve your professional goals.

Complex Infrastructure:

Our industry leading Quantity Surveying team, enables you to work on some of the most prestigious and technically challenging Civil Engineering projects in the UK, influencing the way we live and shape the Built Environment. From high speed rail to smart motorway schemes, we deliver solutions to keep the world moving.

Our highly regarded team has a significant client base across multiple sectors, working for clients such as HS2, TfL, Network Rail, Highways England, EDF Energy, Thames Water and Heathrow Airport to name just a few. Our leading clients you may be working with are in Railway, Local Authority, Highways, or Aviation sectors.

Commercial Property:

As a member of our property team, you will enjoy exposure to a wide variety of schemes in all sectors, including new university campuses, office towers, commercial office developments, refurbishment of listed buildings, large residential scheme, theme parks, the list is endless!

You will learn to guide design teams, ensuring projects are designed within our clients’ budget and you will work with contractors, on site, managing and controlling construction costs for our clients. You will learn to be confident, a good communicator, problem solving and will develop your mathematical ability and business acumen.

How property and real estate are economically and sustainably managed are critical success factors for most organisations, and you could build up early careers experience in these areas!

This team are involved with asset management, facilities management, life cycle costing and sustainability. We strive to optimise our clients’ property strategies by aligning them to their business goals.

Our Climate Change and Adaptation team is at the forefront of the climate change and adaptation field. We work with clients across various sectors, including water, transport, energy, and more, to understand how climate change may impact their strategy and operations.

Our Ecology practice does more than look for protected species and habitats; we work at the forefront of industry thinking through innovative survey, mitigation and ecological consenting approaches. As a Graduate Communications and Engagement Consultant with our team, you’ll play a key role in connecting projects with the communities they serve. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, you’ll develop your ability to tailor your communication style to diverse audiences - translating complex, technical information into clear, compelling narratives that foster understanding and build trust. You'll have the unique opportunity to develop your storytelling skills, contribute to meaningful engagement strategies, and make a real difference in how projects are perceived and received.

Our Sustainability and Carbon team advises clients on how they can decarbonize their activities and deliver their projects in sustainable ways. Our exciting portfolio of projects and clients continues to expand, and we’re looking to recruit graduates with a passion for sustainability and an eagerness to learn and ultimately influence others. We work on projects both in the UK and internationally across all sectors: energy, water, rail, highways, airports and local and central government.

Our clients include UK water companies, the Environment Agency, energy and transport companies (e.g. Gatwick Airport and Heathrow Airport), government agencies and local authorities as well as international bodies such as The European Investment Bank. As our exciting portfolio of projects and clients continues to expand, we’re looking to recruit graduates with a keen interest in sustainability and carbon advisory services and a passion for supporting our clients through the ongoing movement towards more sustainable practices.

Our award-winning Sustainable Land and Resource Management team collaborates with clients across a wide range of sectors to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that unlock the potential of brownfield and previously developed land.

As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to build a diverse skill set through a combination of office-based and on-site work. You’ll contribute to a variety of complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects that address a wide range of engineering and environmental challenges.

Project and programme management, controls, risk, planning and advisory

Working within our Estimating and Cost Advisory Team will give you early responsibility for developing project costs, cost intelligence and commercial strategy.

Cost intelligence is the practice of using data, trends, and historical performance to forecast project costs with greater accuracy, ensuring transparency, value for money, and informed decision making. Alongside this, you will still be exposed to all the core QS functions to meet the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (to become a MRICS chartered surveyor) including contract practice, tendering and procurement, project finance, risk management, and wider professional practice.

The Estimating and Cost Advisory Team has a diverse mix of expertise and a strong, shared drive for problem solving.

Our Programme Services, Advisory and Controls (PSAC) Practice provides independent advice and guidance to clients delivering complex projects, programmes and portfolios.

Our Practice offers a comprehensive range of services, including Programme Management, PMO, Project Controls and Advisory services, providing a unique opportunity to gain experience across multiple disciplines through structured rotations during your graduate programme.

Our team delivers project and programme management consultancy across the world; our cutting edge independent advice and guidance enable our clients to turn bold ideas into reality and deliver their most important projects and programmes. Our highly regarded Project Controls team has a significant client base across multiple sectors, including clients such as Network Rail, Highways England, TfL, Thames Water, EDF Energy, Yorkshire Water, and Gatwick Airport, to name just a few.

As such, you could work on large prestigious infrastructure projects or focus on public building projects ranging from primary school extensions to a medieval fortress!. We'll trust you to own your projects while supporting you in developing your skills and confidence.

The team combines enthusiasm and passion with technical expertise to manage and control projects and schemes from concept through to design to commissioning. You’ll be involved in all facets, including cost management, schedule management, risk management, and change management. You’ll be working directly with clients as part of multidisciplinary project teams, spending time in the office and at the client’s office or the client’s site.The choice of rotating around disciplines is available throughout your career to maximise your personal fulfillment and career growth!

Planning Management:
With an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency, we are well positioned to add value to project goals by developing integrated plans, monitoring progress and influencing mitigation of project delays. We use cutting edge software such as Primavera, BIM and PowerBi to help communicate planning information based on data, to the project team.

Cost management:
You will add value in some of the country’s largest programmes of work. With budgets in the billions, the role of cost management is highly recognised and aids clients in meeting their targets. This is done by understanding forecast of works, understanding data and producing reports and dashboards to support information to Stakeholders.

Risk Management:
You’ll work with an array of stakeholders and project teams to deliver risk management strategies to inform decision making for major projects and programmes. The role of risk management involves the facilitation of risk reviews with project teams to identify, assess and mitigate risks to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time, whilst meeting their budget, quality and performance requirements.

Information Management is an exciting, growing field, and as an IM grad, you'll be at the cutting edge. We'll support you in achieving your BSI Kitemark Certification and work with you to find the route to chartership that best suits you and your skills.
