Aldbrough Hydrogen Pathfinder
The Aldbrough Hydrogen Pathfinder project, developed by SSE Thermal in partnership with Equinor, is a pioneering initiative aimed at creating one of the world’s largest hydrogen storage facilities. AtkinsRéalis has been responsible for the feasibility study and concept design of an electrolyser system, underground hydrogen storage solution and a hydrogen fired Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT).
Cheshire Energy Hub
The Cheshire Energy Hub project was established to identify and assess low carbon energy solutions capable of supporting the Northwest of England’s transition to Net Zero, while unlocking regional investment and economic growth. AtkinsRéalis provided low carbon technology technical counsel and engineering expertise to support concept development, feasibility assessment and stakeholder engagement.
Helping National Grid engage with local communities
We partnered with National Grid at the beginning of 2023 to help them develop new and improved ways of communicating these engineering works to the public and enable honest and productive conversations about how they might impact local communities.
