This role is part of our Decommissioning team.

Degree requirements: Minimum 2.2 Bachelor’s degree in Commercial, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Risk Management or other related degrees

Location for this business will include: Whitehaven

Team Details

This role forms a critical part of the Decommissioning Commercial Team and will be our primary representative throughout an array of our Joint Venture Partners, our Supply Chain Partners and our Clients.

We lead and support colleagues from across the Decommissioning business (pan-discipline), to enhance our progressive and sustainable commercial team.

You will assist in the management and coordination ~£10m p/a of contractual spend - including coordination and reporting of pan-organisational information (e.g. Defined Cost, Disallowed Cost, cost covered by Fee, invoicing and timesheets) - operating across multiple contract types – both upwards (Client) and downwards (Subcontractor) facing.

With support, you will develop and implement world-leading 'work-smart' tools to automate and enhance your role's performance - supporting increased productivity and improving wider team performance. This includes potential implementation / testing / utilisation of Artificial Intelligence, Process Automation and Zero-Time-Input delivery mechanisms.

We demonstrate commercial and collaborative leadership across a suite of Clients and Supply Chain Partners, most notably Sellafield Limited. Your focus will be on enhancing Contract delivery (primarily NEC3 and NEC4), whilst collaboratively resolving the nuances associated with bespoke Terms & Conditions amendments / contracts.

You will assist in the management of the Client commercial interfaces including Early Warnings, Variations (e.g. Compensation Events / Losses & Expense) and conflict avoidance processes with a strong understanding for when and how best to escalate risks/issues where beneficial.

You will assist and coordinate procurement delivery, including proposing strategies, tendering, negotiation and implementation of Key Agreements across the AtkinsRéalis Supply Chain (strong focus on Small and Medium Enterprises).

Together, we guide the Social Value agenda of Decommissioning from a Commercial perspective.

We deliver upward and downward facing performance incentivisation, optimising our Client's satisfaction alongside increasing AtkinsRéalis' margin through effective delivery of savings, Commercial excellence and collaborative working practices.

You will support development of an integrated commercial team by working alongside Project Management and Project Controls throughout the full project, programme and portfolio lifecycle.

  • Develop, maintain, improve and provide coaching on the use of local management systems to enable effective delivery.
  • Verifying that quality requirements are adequately specified and complied with internally and supply chain.
  • Interface and engage with key stakeholders to promote a joined-up approach to quality and safety.
  • Assess the ability of suppliers to meet specified requirements and approved supplier’s list .
  • Engage with relevant disciplines / functions to translate requirements and expectations, taking consideration of risks and opportunities and learning from experience (LFE); contribute to supplier opening up meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with integrated teams to prepare and implement quality plans and inspection plans, including co-ordination of surveillances required to monitor quality standards in line with specifications.
  • Review and accept relevant documentation including supply chain quality submissions.
  • Define quality and lifetime record strategies to demonstrable audit trail that the product/service meets the required specifications.
  • Promote the Quality Policy and support the development of healthy quality culture. This includes Right First Time delivery.
  • Assist in the delivery of the appropriate Nuclear Safety Education Package where required.
  • Define and implement QA/QC activities (including measuring, monitoring, verification, validation and certification) to deliver the expected results.
  • Provide coaching on quality tools and practices to guide others on how to achieve the best outcome and achieve right first time.
  • Analyse QA/QC outputs to determine products or services conform to requirements; engage with integrated teams to determine potential solutions.
  • Liaise with the quality control and technical service providers to deliver objectives.
  • Communicate quality performance to management to enable effective decisions and appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Develop and implement the audit / assurance and surveillance programme; take responsibility for planning and carrying out assessments for their area.
  • Test that specification requirements are accurately cascaded within the appropriate area of the business.
  • Use and develop appropriate tools and techniques (including key performance indicators/dashboards) to monitor quality performance and measure processes effectiveness.
  • Provide oversight and assurance of the quality management system, including advice to users on quality matters.
  • Support the facilitation of 3rd party certification audits.
  • Identify, capture and share LFE and best practice to promote continual improvement of Quality Performance.
