Practice: Advanced Engineering, Delivery & Consultancy (AEDC)

Job Description:

AEDC is AtkinsRéalis’ specialist engineering consultancy, delivering integrated services that help clients stay safe, secure, and sustainable in a complex world. Our reputation is built on world-class people and their huge diversity of experience, which we turn into real solutions.

While traditional engineering focuses on building systems to work, Resilience Engineering ensures they keep working. If you're curious about how systems operate and how engineering protects people and assets, this role is for you. In this role, you’ll assess risks, improve system reliability, and support long-term sustainability and safety goals.

As consultants, we work at the intersection of engineering and decision-making. You won’t just work on engineering — you’ll work with clients, shaping outcomes from day one. We help government and industry tackle their toughest technical and strategic challenges, in high-hazard, highly regulated sectors.

Attributes:

  • A desire to apply engineering thinking to real-world challenges.
  • Think critically, make evidence-based recommendations and deliver solutions to complex problems.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with openness to work across various disciplines and grades.
  • Innovative mindset with the curiosity to explore the changing technological needs of our diverse clients.
  • Adaptable and interested in contributing to both technical and people-focused environments.
  • Enthusiasm for working on projects across high-hazard sectors such as nuclear, defence, aviation, infrastructure, and transport.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage customer requirements.
  • Support development of designs, considering innovative and creative solutions.
  • Help build the engineering arguments that underpin safety and sustainability regulatory approvals.
  • Create and develop reports, arguments and outputs for highly regulated environments.
  • Support testing and review of systems to meet safety, performance, and sustainability standards.
