AtkinsRéalis is pleased to offer a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for an experienced programmer in our Montréal city office. As a key member of our Project Execution team, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to the requirements gathering, development, testing, and commissioning of control equipment, instruments, PLC and HMI / SCADA solutions. After gaining experience with our processes, you will serve as a primary point of contact for selected customers, fostering strong and lasting relationships. Your role
- Contribute to the design of instrumentation and control panels and to the drafting of technical specifications.
- Select instruments and control equipment based on applications, with guidance.
- Write and update technical documentation (specifications, functional analyses, test protocols).
- Participate in the preparation of tender documents and other similar documentation.
- Collaborate with technicians, designers, and engineers on the team to ensure the quality of deliverables.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and configure Allen Bradley and Siemens PCS7 PLCs, integrating interlocks, sequences, HMIs, VFDs into existing plant control systems.
- Carry out successful implementations in line with customer requirements, standards, budget, and schedule.
- Write technical documentation, including requirements specifications, design specifications, and test protocols.
- Offer technical guidance and consultation to customers and prepare technical presentations when required.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Execute precise remote deployment of programs on customer systems.
- Support post-deployment activities including troubleshooting and making corrections when necessary.
- Develop and deliver end-user training.
- Provide ongoing support to customers.
- Assist with the preparation of budgetary estimates based on RFQ and scope of work documents provided by the customer.

About you
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer science or automated production, or experience deemed equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, control and developing programs from the ground up and modifying, troubleshooting existing ones.
- Experience in agrifood or pharmaceutical industries.
- Participate in the design of instrumentation and control plans.
- Select instruments and control equipment based on the application.
- Write technical documentation, including requirements specifications, design specifications, functional analyses, and test protocols.
- Good understanding of electrical design principles and control systems.
- Ability to work in a team, show initiative, and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Programming skills in industrial PLCs (Rockwell SLC 500 and ControlLogix, Siemens PCS7, etc.)
- Experience with industrial SCADA Applications (FactoryTalk View, AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform, WinCC, etc.)
- Fluent in English (C1 level or equivalent), able to communicate clearly and confidently with international stakeholders.
- Ability to liaise and work directly with customers, including experience of requirements gathering and on-site commissioning.
- Ability to work until 12:00 PM Eastern Time.
- Proven experience in implementing solutions using any major MES vendor is considered an asset.
- Experience in networking and switches configuration is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or other database technologies is considered an asset.
- Programming skills in one or more programming languages (Visual Basic, Java, C#, Python, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to customer sites on occasion.
