BIM Architecture (OBD OR Microstation)

Overview

The Architectural OBD/Revit Technician supports the delivery of high-quality architectural design outputs using Open Buildings Designer (OBD)(preffered not mandate) , with Revit(mandate) skills as an added advantage. The role involves creating and updating accurate architectural models, producing detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance with project standards. Working closely with senior technicians and BIM coordinators, the technician assists in resolving design issues and maintaining consistency across deliverables. While primarily focused on OBD-based workflows, the ability to use Revit enhances coordination and flexibility across multidisciplinary teams. This position is key to supporting digital design processes and offers opportunities for growth into advanced BIM roles within AtkinsRéalis.

Your role

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of RIBA Stages of Work. Key performer in interdisciplinary coordination. Ability to cross-check the design/ scheme for compliance and verify consultant information.
  • Continues to receive on-the-job technical training but with limited supervision, progressing towards the end of technical training
  • Competent to check the work of other team members
  • Able to assign and check the Detailing work
  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of work procedures
  • Developing an understanding of the commercial aspects of project management
  • An effective and reliable team member able to apply knowledge gained
  • Responsible for the completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost
  • Flexible and enthusiastic
  • Able to make sound judgments
  • Familiar with planning, budgeting, and scheduling of basic drafting tasks in designated disciplines
  • Understands interdisciplinary coordination requirements
  • Knows how to use a wide range of OBD, CAD / BIM and other relevant technologies for designer work
  • Ensuring that drawings issued are in accordance with the agreed standards as required by the UK / ME region
  • Implement and enforce BIM Standards
  • Training: Identifying training requirements within OBD, Cad / BIM Team and advising Team Leaders
  • Monitoring the Performance of the OBD, Cad / BIM Team and mentoring, coaching as required
  • Competent understanding of the range of materials and their material properties. The candidate should have an advanced understanding of the application of these materials (e.g., bituminous materials, liquid-applied components, etc.)

Technical Competencies

  • Responsible for the completion of tasks assigned.
  • Should know about drawing information, building regulations and other technical documents
  • Good understanding of the sequence of the construction and the usage of different elements within the framework and is aware of the technical terms of building elements.

  • Graduates (B.Arch.) / Diploma

Desired Experience

  • 4+ years of advanced-level troubleshooting experience with MicroStation OR OBD.
  • Interface experience with the project management team and senior Architects & engineers.
  • Team leadership abilities and people management skills. Clear understanding of career aspirations of self.
  • Skills in the Revit application will be an added advantage
