Cernavoda 1 Logistics Manager Romania

Overview

The Cernavoda 1 Logistics Manager Romania will oversee local logistics operations for the Candu Cernavoda 1 EP/EPC Nuclear projects. This role involves managing the import clearance, in-country transportation, and delivery to Site of project materials and equipment including general cargo, dangerous goods (Class 7). heavy lift items, over dimensioned cargo, etc. ,ensuring compliance with EU/Romanian customs regulations, and coordination and aligment with the Project Logistics Home Office in Canada. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in nuclear/industrial project logistics, excellent communication skills, and fluency in Romanian and English.

Your role

  • Primary Contact: Serve as the main point of contact at project Site/Romania locations for project freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and transportation services designated providers Romania/EU organizations & representatives.
  • Customs and Transportation: Oversee all import customs clearance and transportation operations, ensuring compliance with EU and Romanian regulations.
  • Cargo Management: Manage all inbound international and domestic cargo shipments to project Site, including inland movements and shipping schedules, confirming transportation routes and timelines for delivery with site material management/receiving organization.
  • Dangerous Goods: Supervise and coordinate the transportation of radioactive material ( DG Class 7) into Romania via inland trucking from entry ports in Europe with project designated freight forwarder and ensure all permitting and licensing requirements are met.
  • Coordination: Communicate with site project management team and stakeholders, in permanent coordination and alignment with the Project Logistics Home Office in Canada.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to inbound logistics shipping, including customs clearance and cargo delivery delays, as well as external traffic to Site safety concerns.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all executed logistics operations in Romania, and prepare regular reports on inbound logistics activities status and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with various site project management stakeholders, including material management, site procurement, and the site project construction management team.

About you

  • Educational Background: Degree in Logistics or Materials Management from a recognized university or technical institute, or equivalent combination of education and experience equating to at least 10 years of experience in project logistics/transportation/traffic coordination/management roles.(Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in a related field or equivalent).
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in supply chain, logistics and transportation and project management(e.g., CITT Certified Logistics Professional /CCLP, Project Management Professional /PMP and Certified Supply Chain Management Professional /CSCMP) are consider an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum ten years in logistics management, import/export management, and warehouse management.
  • Project Logistics Experience: Demonstrable experience in project logistics, shipping, and transportation activities, with a thorough understanding of Romanian/European Union inland cargo transportation, shipping regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Integrity and Character: Strong character and integrity, with the ability to effectively deal with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Coordination Abilities: Strong coordination abilities to manage complex logistics operations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of regulations and permit/license requirements for importing and transporting dangerous goods, specifically Class 7, within the European Union.
  • Reporting: Ability to prepare and present regular reports on inbound logistics activities, including performance metrics and project status updates.
  • Construction Project Experience: Prior experience working as a permanent project site assigned personnel in large-scale construction projects is considered an asset.
  • International Trade Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of international trade practices and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English mandatory - Fluency in Romanian is considered an asset.
