Overview
AtkinsRéalis is delivering some of the most ambitious and complex nuclear programmes in the UK and internationally. As part of our continued growth within the Nuclear EMEA Major Projects business, we are seeking a Chief Engineer (Multi-Discipline) to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of major projects that are helping shape the future of the nuclear industry.
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who brings the expertise, credibility, and collaborative leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams, support strategic project decisions, and act as a champion for engineering excellence across major nuclear programmes.
Working alongside Project Directors, Engineering Managers, and our clients, you will help define the technical direction of complex projects, enable integrated engineering solutions, and support multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality outcomes.
Your role
- Provide technical leadership across major nuclear projects and programmes, supporting successful delivery from concept through to implementation.
- Bring together civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and control systems engineering disciplines to develop integrated, coherent, and effective engineering solutions.
- Act as a trusted technical authority, promoting technical quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across project activities.
- Partner with clients and project leadership teams to address complex technical challenges, support the management of engineering risk, and enable informed decision-making.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across multidisciplinary teams.
- Build and nurture trusted relationships with clients, regulators, partners, and senior stakeholders while representing AtkinsRéalis as a respected technical leader within the industry.

About you
- Bring Chartered Engineer status and a degree in an engineering discipline.
- Demonstrate experience leading and enabling multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale, complex projects within highly regulated environments.
- Apply a strong understanding of engineering integration, design governance, and technical assurance to support successful project outcomes.
- Communicate technical direction clearly and effectively, balancing engineering, programme, commercial, and stakeholder considerations.
- Bring experience within the nuclear sector or comparable industries such as defence, power generation, aerospace, or major infrastructure.
- Build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration and alignment to achieve shared objectives.
- Demonstrate a commitment to engineering excellence, continuous learning, and the development of high-performing teams and technical capability.
