The Nuclear Business Unit at AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior Commercial Advisor who thrives on teamwork with a strong desire to deliver for both internal and external clients.

This role offers a significant platform for personal development and the opportunity to get involved in a variety of exciting projects covering a broad spectrum of clients, including Nuclear New Build, Major Plant Refurbishment, Operations and Decommissioning. In an evolving energy market, where the business is growing, we are seeking a Commercial Advisor who has a passion for business and will be comfortable to beat the forefront of leading and supporting the business in achieving its goals, while managing and balancing business risk. The role requires access to confidential information to support medium and long-term financial analysis and planning.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Collaborates with proposal teams in the proposal strategy development and in the preparation and review of proposals, commercial contracts, subcontracts and other agreements.
  • Identifies and analyzes potential commercial risks and liabilities associated with proposals, ongoing projects and supplier agreements.
  • Interfaces with internal stakeholders as required, including technical, risk assessment, legal, cost estimating, insurance, bond, taxation, treasury and finance functions.
  • Provides commercial support in contract administration and in the preparation of narratives and entitlement documentation and the resolution of claims.
  • Works closely with the procurement manager to ensure flow down of the prime contract terms to other related contracts on ongoing projects.
  • Access to confidential information to support medium- and long-term financial analysis and planning.
  • Assists the project teams in the understanding and interpretation of the contract language.
  • Attends steering committee meetings between AtkinsRéalis and other partners and prepares minutes of meeting recording agreed decisions and actions going forward.

What will you contribute?

  • University degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or Law, or an MBA, Formal training in contract law or contract administration is an asset.
  • Post-graduate degree(s) will also be considered.
  • Must have superior technical written skills and the ability to effectively interface with staff, project management and customers.
  • Ability to understand and consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Effective problem solver with a results-oriented approach and ability.
  • Ability to network, build relationships, and plan, with an orientation toward service, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience in communicating with various stakeholder groups from internal project staff to clients, subcontractors and the executive team.
  • Understanding of client and client organizations, objectives, personnel, and environments.
    Superior communication and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take the initiative.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information at both detail and summary level and the ability to interact with executive management and operational level staff.
