Join the Cities & Infrastructure Advisory team which sits within our Sustainable Futures Practice. Our Cities & Infrastructure Advisory team works with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), public authorities, project developers and sponsors, and commercial banks to identify, prioritise, monitor and deliver their investments in sustainable development. You will work closely with senior team members and market leads to develop business and deliver projects that contribute to a sustainable built environment.
Our energy advisors deliver long-term strategic planning; masterplanning; pre-feasibility and feasibility studies; policy / regulatory advice; and implementation support to drive the transition to clean and resilient energy systems across a range of geographies. Our recent projects have included long-term, urban spatial planning projects in the Middle East, targeted energy resilience and decarbonisation projects across several Small Island Developing States (SIDS) across the globe, and early-stage renewable energy infrastructure planning and option development in the UK and Europe. We have a strong pipeline of UK-based and international work.
The position is based in the UK, in the Epsom or London office ideally, and candidates must be open to frequent international travel and periods of time abroad.

Your role
- Undertake detailed analysis of energy problems, work with data to build bespoke models in excel and / or using specialist software packages.
- Support concept level spatial planning of future energy systems.
- Develop high-quality project outputs, including contributing to technical content for project reports and presentations and proactively identifying opportunities to embed new digital products, e.g., through the development of digital tools / dashboards to support the implementation of recommendations and solutions, in collaboration with other AtkinsRéalis businesses.
- Plan and facilitate stakeholder engagement, e.g., workshops, interviews, consultation processes, as required in order to support the delivery of context-appropriate solutions.
- Present to internal and external teams including client bodies.
- Contribute to developing offers for our clients to win new projects through bid development and management of bid governance processes.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adapting technical inputs to social, economic and governance constraints and contextual factors to provide implementable solutions to our clients.

About you
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in engineering, energy systems or a related technical discipline. Working towards or holding a relevant professional accreditation (CEng, CSci or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong understanding of energy technologies, particularly renewables, and energy markets;
Concept level masterplanning experience – including strong energy demand / supply modelling and / or network planning capabilities – is desirable. - Has an interest in one or more of the following areas: the clean energy transition, energy resilience, energy markets & regulation.
- Strong digital capability, experienced with energy modelling in excel / using specialist software packages; experience in using GIS is not essential but would be advantageous.
