Overview
AtkinsRéalis is hiring an Environmental Scientist for its Fort St. John, BC team. The role involves supporting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and land reclamation work, including groundwater monitoring, sampling, spill response, and vegetation assessments. Additional responsibilities include supervising subcontractors, coordinating projects, tracking costs, and preparing reports for review.
Your role
Conduct site assessments including historical data review and site inspections. Perform environmental sampling (groundwater, surface soil, water, and soil vapour).
Execute field testing such as hydraulic conductivity and groundwater monitoring.
Oversee field operations including drilling activities, monitoring well installation, and remedial excavations.
Document site activities through photographs, field notes, and written records. Coordinate and communicate with on-site personnel, Project Managers, and support client relationships.
Prepare technical reports and promote safety, contributing to Health & Safety programs and cross-regional teamwork.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $55,000 - $89,000 annually) . Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.

About you
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology Or Environmental Sciences or related field. Eligibility for professional designation 0-3 years of related work experience
Candidates with experience primarily in the upstream oil and gas section are preferred, however, work in multiple settings, both geographically and industrially is considered an asset.
Demonstrated skills in Phase I & II ESAs including groundwater monitoring and sampling, drilling techniques, soil collection and logging, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response, and QA/QC protocols.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills; team-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities. Self-motivated with the ability to follow safety and technical protocols.
Willingness to work year-round in the field, including travel to remote locations across Western Canada for extended shifts (up to 3 weeks), weekends, and statutory holidays. Must be available for overtime during field shifts (up to 12 hours/day).
Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
