Overview

AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Hydroelectric Turbines or Generators to join the Turbines and Generators team. In this position, you will report to the GTA (Turbine / Alternator Group) team leader and contribute to current and future projects.


AtkinsRéalis has a large experienced hydroelectric team (over 100 employees), mainly composed of engineers and technicians, located in Montreal and Vancouver. The areas of activity of this team include geotechnics and geology, civil engineering and structure, hydrology and hydraulics, mechanics and electricity. The Turbine / Alternator group is part of the Mechanical team.


Our hydroelectric team covers the Canadian market, but sometimes also the international market. It is therefore possible that you will be asked to participate in projects both in Canada and internationally.
You will take charge of technical mandates specific to hydroelectric turbines or alternators.

Your role

  • Represent the client (e.g. review drawings, calculations, installation and commissioning procedures, non-conformities, etc.);

  • Provide technical advice, perform engineering calculations, generate specifications, and produce technical drawings with the help of technicians for clients;

  • Provide assistance to clients during the tendering process;

  • Coordinate certain tasks on EPC projects with other technical disciplines;

  • Provide technical support to our sales team;

  • Occasionally, conduct site or workshop visits, supervise and/or inspect construction sites;

  • Carry out internal improvement projects to increase the knowledge base of the GTA team.

About you

  • Having a university degree in mechanical engineering, and being a member of the OIQ or being eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Canada;

  • Having at least 5 years of experience in the mechanical aspects of turbines and generators, ideally hydroelectric (either with a manufacturer, an owner, a consultant);

  • Having a good command of French (working language) and good communication skills (oral and written) in English*;

  • Having a related mechanical technical knowledge outside of turbine and generator mechanics (e.g. auxiliary systems, piping, valves, etc.) are considered assets;

  • Having a good command of MS Office suite, 3D design.

* This position requires proficiency in a language other than French, namely English, as you will be part of a Canadian, global, or regional leadership team and will need to collaborate with colleagues located outside of Quebec.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $92 - $125 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
