Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Instrumentation Designer to develop, maintain, and manage all types of Instrumentation, Automation and Telecom related drawings, I&A interface of P&IDs, Electrical Buildings, piping and equipment GA using Autodesk Plant 3D / Revit. The candidate will work closely with the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineers, Process Designers, Piping Designers, and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals facilities, Conventional and Renewable Power projects, and Nuclear facilities.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of Instrumentation and Automation design, intelligent P&ID interface, engineering standards, and multidisciplinary plant design workflows.

Your Role

Role & responsibilities

  • Development of Level 1 and Level 2 Automation System Architecture.
  • Networking diagram
  • Control Room Building Drawing with Equipment Allocation.
  • Complete layout of I&A, Telecom related engineering drawings based upon notes, sketches, vendor drawings, the Scope of Work (SOW) or Design Basis / Design Criteria Document and general direction.
  • 3D Modelling of Instrumentation items and Layout drawings

Drawings shall include but not be limited to:

  • Cable Tray / Duct main route and cable laying drawing
  • Cable Block Diagram
  • Instrument Air Header layout drawing
  • Telecom system, Fire and Gas Detectors layout drawings
  • Location plans of the Instruments, JB, Panel, Air Header, Power Distribution Boards, Telecom systems etc.
  • Power distribution drawings for the I&A systems
  • Instrument installation details and Hook Up Drawing with MTO
  • General Arrangement drawing with internal allocation of Junction box, Instrument Air Header, PDB and Cable Tray
  • Loop wiring diagrams,
  • Schematic Drawings of the Telecommunication systems (like CCTV, PA, Telephone, LAN, ACS etc.), Telecom systems allocation plan and cable tray Layout drawings, I&A interface in P&I diagrams.
  • Performing Cable List, JB List, Instrument Cable Tray BOQ, Cable and Instrument gland schedule for procurement engineering.
  • Provide material take-offs for bulk commodities from completed engineering documents.
  • Perform As Built Drawings as per the site marked up / redlines drawings.
  • Interface Isometric drawings for the Instrumentation and Automation systems.
  • Performing drafting work via AutoCAD 2D and being able to use standard AutoCAD system tools. AutoCAD - Electrical is a mandatory requirement.
  • Proficiency and good knowledge of Revit or Plant 3D (per project requirements). Place 3D renderings of instrumentation items in the project plant wide 3D model utilizing AutoCAD Plant 3D, to ensure correctness of location and interference checking will be an added advantage.
  • Having knowledge of SPI, AVEVA, SP3D will be an added advantage.
  • Utilizing Instrumentation design software, catalog instrumentation information for reporting purposes.
  • Provide job specific instrument installation details using developed standard details as required and maintain documentation for files.
  • Check vendor and other discipline drawings against own or other designed work for correctness.
  • Provide information to other designers on interface requirements (i.e., equipment spacing, cable numbering, instrument numbering, control philosophy, flow element requirements, etc.)
  • Check work of other members of the design team when needed.
  • Capable to read / refer engineering lists like Instrument List, IO List, Cable List etc., P&I diagram, Instrument Datasheets to perform Instrumentation and Automation Design activities.
  • Developing junior designers for the various I&A deliverables.

About You

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Instrumentation and Automation or equivalent from a qualified technical institute is preferred. Other disciplines are also accepted meeting the experience criteria and other requirements described in this document.
  • Experience – 5 to 10 years
  • Comprehensive understanding of instrument types and their installation procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of documentation and document control procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting and design standards and techniques in instrumentation and automation drafting.
  • Designers should have a strong knowledge of standard drafting symbols.
