Overview
AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre (GTC) Middle East Business is looking to appoint a MECH BIM Lead / Senior BIM Engineer / Assistant Technical Manager to support the delivery of complex Mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary designs across a range of major projects.
As the MECH BIM Lead / Senior BIM Engineer / Assistant Technical Manager, you will lead a team of BIM engineers and modelers with responsibility for guiding them on all technical matters and performing multi‑discipline design management and coordination. You will be an experienced practitioner of BIM/Digital technologies, with a proven track record of applying these technologies to develop engineering solutions.
This key post will be based in Cairo, where we have a thriving AtkinsRéalis office serving all AtkinsRéalis regions worldwide. Our portfolio of work continues to grow, offering a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience, and problem‑solving skills.
Your role
- MECH BIM lead experience working on multi‑disciplinary projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of MECH systems and their construction on site.
- In‑depth knowledge of the latest CDEs.
- In‑depth knowledge of ISO 19650.
- Collaborate with Designers, BIM Leads, Planners to ensure alignment and quality BIM models.
- Develop documentation required to support the implementation and progression of 3D & 4D BIM.
- Well‑versed with Revit MECH & AutoCAD and able to mentor the team.
- Follow firm‑wide BIM/CAD standards, procedures, and guidelines that conform to international standards and best practices.
- Model/drawing setup and organization.
- Prepare 3D Revit MECH Models, Families, and Schedules.
- Ability to create parametric components and vary parameter values.
- Coordinate MEP models with Structural and Architectural models.
- Coordinate and analyse Revit/Navisworks clash detection reports and resolve issues.
- Coordinate work with Electrical, Architectural, Structural, and Interior Design disciplines.
- Prepare detailed equipment room layouts, riser diagrams, plot files, PDFs, part plans.
- Highlight completed mark‑ups and return drawings to Engineer/Manager. Print drawing sets as requested.
- Check drawings for quality control using standard checklists.
- Maintain design files in an organized and up‑to‑date manner.
- Communicate regularly with the team to ensure schedules are met.
- Identify and report project‑related quality, scheduling, or speed issues to the Manager.
- Drive technical excellence in digital production/delivery.
- Support transitioning from using Revit as a drafting tool to a design/engineering platform.
- Promote advanced digital tools (Rhino, Grasshopper, CFD, Adobe Suite).
- Elevate deliverable quality visually and in speed to match architectural teams.
- Promote emerging digital initiatives within AtkinsRéalis and externally.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering with 10–15 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary and multiregional projects and CAD/BIM standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & specifications.
- Ability to produce drawings/3D modelling using engineer calculations and design inputs.
- Knowledge of building design processes in multi‑discipline engineering environments.
- Ability to identify, interpret, and apply industry/client/internal CAD/BIM standards.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Self‑motivated and competent in checking work.
- Ability to present technical work.
- Working knowledge of standard codes and EDMS systems.
- Flexibility in work tasks and locations.
- Responsible for completing assigned tasks on time and within cost.
Required Digital Skills
- Thorough understanding of data & information management and BIM (ISO 19650 compliance).
- Strong engineering design knowledge to assist in interdisciplinary coordination.
- Expert knowledge of BIM authoring tools (Autodesk, Bentley).
- Expert in model federation and coordination platforms (Navisworks, Revizto, BIM Track).
- Expert in CDEs (BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise).
- Knowledge of automation tools (Dynamo).
- Ability to develop BIM/Information Management documentation.
- Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking capability.
Desirable Skills
- Professional accreditation (Incorporated/Chartered Engineer or pursuing).
- Advanced or expert user of Autodesk Navisworks with full clash detection and model management capability.
- Experience in computational/generative design (Dynamo, Grasshopper/Rhino).
- Proficiency with latest CDE systems (ProjectWise, BIM360).
