Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Transport Modeller to join our Regional Transport Advisory & Planning Team in Riyadh, KSA. This senior leadership role is ideal for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in transport modelling and strategic planning, capable of leading complex, large-scale projects across Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East.
You will play a critical role within an international team of experts, supporting major clients and contributing to high-profile infrastructure and mobility projects aligned with KSA's Vision 2030 initiatives.
Your role
- Lead and manage the delivery of complex transport modelling and planning projects to high technical standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level team members.
- Ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis Quality Assurance processes and project governance.
- Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Act as a key client interface, presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders across KSA projects.

About you
Technical Competencies
Essential
- Degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
- 12–15+ years of post-graduate experience in transport modelling and traffic engineering.
- Strong experience working on large-scale projects in KSA or the Middle East region.
- Expertise in strategic transport modelling tools such as VISUM, Cube Voyager, EMME.
- Deep understanding of transport modelling principles, public transport systems, transit-oriented development, and urban planning policies.
- Proven track record in leading modelling projects across all stages (development, calibration, validation, forecasting).
- Strong experience in traffic impact assessments, junction modelling, and network analysis.
- Ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation, reports, and model user manuals.
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, VB) and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent command of English communication (written and spoken).
Desirable
- Experience working on KSA-based transport models and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with Activity-Based Models (ABM).
- Knowledge of microsimulation tools such as VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCM.
- Familiarity with GIS and advanced Excel modelling.
- Arabic language skills (written and spoken) are an advantage.
- Experience supporting large-scale masterplans and land-use developments.
