Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Transport Modeller to join our Regional Transport Advisory & Planning Team in Dubai, UAE. This senior role is suited for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in transport modelling and strategic planning, capable of leading complex, large-scale projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.
You will play a key role within a multidisciplinary international team, supporting major clients and contributing to high-profile infrastructure and mobility projects aligned with regional development strategies.
Your role
- Lead and manage the delivery of complex transport modelling and planning projects to the highest technical standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level team members.
- Ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis Quality Assurance processes and project governance frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders across projects.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Act as a key client interface, presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
About you
Essential
- Degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 12–15+ years of post-graduate experience in transport modelling and traffic engineering.
- Proven experience on large-scale projects in the UAE or the Middle East.
- Expertise in strategic transport modelling tools such as VISUM, Cube Voyager, or EMME.
- Strong understanding of transport modelling principles, public transport systems, TOD, and urban planning policies.
- Demonstrated experience across all stages of modelling projects (development, calibration, validation, forecasting).
- Strong experience in traffic impact assessments, junction modelling, and network analysis.
- Ability to prepare and review high-quality technical reports, documentation, and user manuals.
- Proficiency in programming (Python, VB) and advanced data analysis techniques.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
Desirable
- Experience working with UAE-based transport models and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in Activity-Based Modelling (ABM).
- Knowledge of microsimulation tools such as VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCM.
- Familiarity with GIS and advanced Excel modelling.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Experience supporting master planning and large-scale land-use developments.
