Process Engineer - Fuel Handling

This role is based out of the Candu Energy Inc home office in Mississauga, Ontario.

AtkinsRealis is currently looking for a Process Engineer/Analyst – Fuel Handling to join our engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, Fuel Handling, the Process Engineer/Analyst would support one of the various Refurbishment or New build projects on the Fuel Handling team. This candidate will be responsible for executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, with respect to machine design including other closely related disciplines.

Your role

  • Develop design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components related to the Fuelling Machine and associated systems.
  • Assist with thermalhydraulic evaluations on process systems.
  • Perform design/analysis of hydraulic and electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Assist with the preparation and/or review of design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
  • Assist with the preparation and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality program.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.

About you

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Engineering Science.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training in Ontario.
  • 1-5 years of experience in process system design/analysis, preferably for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.
  • Experience in process system design and layout.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations is an asset
  • Experience performing updates to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
