Overview

The Resident Engineer – Depot will be responsible for overseeing the execution, supervision, and delivery of all facility-related works within a metro project. This includes station buildings, depot facilities, MEP systems, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.

Your role

Project Supervision & Execution

  • Lead and supervise all on-site facility works including stations, depots, OCC (Operations Control Centre), and ancillary buildings.
  • Ensure construction activities align with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance, progress, and resource deployment.
  • Coordinate with civil, track, systems, and architectural teams for integrated project delivery.

Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards and local authority regulations.
  • Resolve technical issues and provide engineering guidance during construction.
  • Monitor installation of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, elevators/escalators).

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact between client, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and provide regular progress reports.
  • Liaise with local authorities for inspections, approvals, and permits.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures on-site.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to maintain quality standards.
  • Ensure timely closure of NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and defects.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety standards and practices on-site.
  • Promote a safety-first culture among all contractors and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE plans and regulatory requirements.

Planning & Reporting

  • Track progress against baseline schedules and identify delays or risks.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Review contractor schedules and recovery plans where needed.

Testing & Commissioning

  • Oversee testing and commissioning of facility systems.
  • Ensure proper handover documentation and as-built drawings are completed.
  • Support operational readiness and transition to operations teams.

About you

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in infrastructure or rail/metro projects.
  • Minimum 5–7 years in a Resident Engineer or similar leadership role.
  • Experience in metro stations, depots, or large-scale facilities is essential.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of metro/rail systems and facility infrastructure.
  • Expertise in MEP systems integration within large infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and project management standards.
  • Proficiency in project tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, BIM).
