Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architectural Engineer to lead the architectural design review, technical coordination, construction supervision support, and quality oversight for major high-rise, mixed-use, hospitality, commercial, and residential developments in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will ensure architectural excellence, compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, international standards, and successful project delivery from design through handover.
Your role
- Lead the review and coordination of architectural designs for high-rise and large-scale building developments.
- Ensure architectural designs comply with project briefs, client requirements, Saudi Building Code (SBC), local authority regulations, and international best practices.
- Review and approve architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, material submittals, shop drawings, and mock-ups.
- Coordinate architectural design activities with structural, MEP, façade, interior design, landscape, and infrastructure disciplines.
- Review contractor submissions and provide technical recommendations regarding constructability and design compliance.
- Conduct design reviews, value engineering workshops, and technical coordination meetings.
- Monitor architectural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Perform regular site inspections and audits related to architectural works, finishes, fit-out, façade installations, waterproofing, and external works.
- Review and resolve architectural design conflicts and site-related technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, fire and life safety requirements, and sustainability objectives.
- Support authority approvals and liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding architectural submissions.
- Monitor material selection, sample approvals, and mock-up installations to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, snagging, de-snagging, and project handover activities.
- Review contractor claims, variations, and architectural-related change requests.
- Support quality assurance and quality control processes for all architectural works.
- Lead architectural progress reviews and provide regular reporting to project management and clients.
- Mentor junior architects, architectural engineers, and site supervision staff.
- Ensure implementation of sustainable and energy-efficient architectural solutions where applicable.
- Facilitate BIM coordination and clash-resolution workshops during project delivery.
- Contribute to risk management, design management, and project delivery strategies.

About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering from a recognized university.
- Master's Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
- Professional registration or chartership with a recognized architectural institution is preferred.
- Membership in Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred.
- LEED AP, Mostadam, Estidama, or equivalent sustainability certification is an advantage.
- 15 to 20 years of professional architectural engineering experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience on major high-rise and large-scale building developments.
- Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with international consultants, PMCs, developers, and contractors.
- Demonstrated involvement throughout the full project lifecycle from concept design to project handover.
- Experience in design management, site supervision, and construction-phase services.
- Thorough understanding of high-rise construction methodologies and architectural detailing.
- Experience in design review, technical coordination, material assessments, and constructability reviews.
- Knowledge of authority approval requirements and regulatory compliance processes.
