Overview

Our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business delivers end-to-end engineering solutions for power networks, including substations, transmission lines, and grid modernization. We support integration of renewables, digital engineering, and global compliance standards to ensure reliable and sustainable energy delivery.

The BIM team drives digital transformation by creating accurate 3D models, enabling clash detection, and supporting Scan-to-BIM workflows. Opportunities include advanced modelling, project coordination, automation using tools like Dynamo, and collaboration on global projects—ideal for candidates passionate about innovation and multidisciplinary design.

AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre (GTC) is seeking an experienced Electrical BIM Designer with 8 to 15 years of Substation experience with Revit to join our Bangalore office. This role involves working on single and multi-disciplinary Substation projects (Green field and Brown field), focusing on delivering high-quality BIM and CAD outputs that meet international standards. The role spans Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), Renewables, Infrastructure, and Nuclear domains.

Your role

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead drawing and modelling production as a BIM coordinator for Electrical/Civil systems.
  • Prepare SLDs, control schemes, layouts, 3D models, and hazardous area classifications.
  • Develop substation layouts and infrastructure drawings including power, earthing, lighting, and protection systems.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance with CAD/BIM standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team motivation.
  • Engage in BIM and Scan-to-BIM workflows.
  • Support project setup, customization, and delivery tracking.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • We are seeking a highly experienced CAD/BIM professional with:
  • Multidisciplinary exposure across Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Mechanical domains.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior staff and manage teams effectively.
  • A strong grasp of drawing standards, CAD/BIM protocols, and project workflows.
  • Hands-on experience in Substation projects (Green field and Brown field), including project setup in Revit, layout preparation, support structure modelling, concrete structures reinforcement detailing, power, earthing, lighting, and protection systems.
  • Familiarity with National Grid standards is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microstation, Dynamo, and other BIM-related tools.
  • Exposure to international standards (UK, India, Middle East, APAC) and experience with Scan-to-BIM workflows.
  • Ability to prepare and check complex drawings, ensuring quality and compliance with CAD/BIM standards.

  • Experience with EDMS and drawing control protocols.
  • Capable of implementing GDC BMS & QSE procedures.
  • Knowledge of project programming and resource utilization.

  • Exposure to international standards (UK, India, Middle East, APAC).
  • Experience with 3D modelling and BIM standards.
  • Familiarity with BEP and Xrefs.
