Overview
The Senior HVAC Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, coordination, and delivery of HVAC systems for complex industrial, advanced technology, and energy projects in South Korea. Working closely with Project Managers, Process, Mechanical, Piping, Architectural, Civil/Structural, and E&I teams, clients, vendors, and global AtkinsRéalis experts, the role ensures HVAC designs are safe, compliant, energy‑efficient, constructible, and fully integrated with overall project execution objectives.
With a strong focus on Advanced Technology (semiconductors, data centers, secondary batteries, advanced materials), Renewable Energy and Energy Transition (solar, onshore/offshore wind, energy storage systems, green hydrogen, battery value chain projects), and process‑driven industrial sectors including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, food, agrifood, chemical, fine chemical, and broader industrial processing facilities, the Senior HVAC Engineer will support projects across all phases—from concept development, basic design, and detailed design through construction, commissioning, qualification support, and close‑out.
Your role
- Lead and deliver HVAC engineering designs and deliverables in accordance with project scope, applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop HVAC system concepts, basis of design, load calculations, airflow diagrams, equipment sizing, duct and piping layouts, control philosophy, and technical specifications.
- Design and specify HVAC systems and equipment, including AHUs, exhaust systems, cleanroom HVAC, ventilation systems, chilled water and heating water systems, humidification/dehumidification systems, and packaged equipment.
- Perform and review HVAC calculations, including cooling/heating loads, ventilation rates, pressure cascade, air change rates, duct sizing, static pressure, and energy performance assessments.
- Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Architectural, Civil/Structural, and E&I disciplines to ensure HVAC systems are properly integrated into process requirements, building layouts, utilities, controls, and constructability constraints.
- Prepare and review HVAC datasheets, specifications, layouts, schedules, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents.
- Support vendor engagement and procurement activities, including technical clarifications, vendor drawing reviews, factory acceptance tests, and coordination of long‑lead HVAC equipment.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, commissioning planning, and qualification readiness reviews, incorporating outcomes into finalized HVAC designs.
- Provide HVAC engineering support during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and start‑up, including resolution of technical queries, site issues, and design changes.
- Ensure compliance with international and local codes and standards, including ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO, GMP, cleanroom requirements, client standards, and Korean regulatory requirements where applicable.
- Guide junior engineers and designers, provide technical direction, review deliverables, and support development of HVAC engineering capability within the project team.
- Collaborate with global AtkinsRéalis HVAC and building services subject matter experts to apply best practices, standardized methodologies, and lessons learned.
