Overview
Join AtkinsRéalis, a world-leading design, engineering, and project delivery consultancy, as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in our Southampton Buildings & Places team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients, delivering projects across sectors such as residential and affordable housing, retirement living, education, healthcare, defence, commercial and industrial developments, and local government estates.
As a trusted commercial advisor, you will lead the successful delivery of projects, build long-term client relationships, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve outstanding outcomes. You will play a key role in managing project commercial performance, providing strategic cost advice, and supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Working within a supportive local team and a wider UK network of industry specialists, you will gain exposure to high-profile and complex developments while contributing to the growth of our Quantity Surveying service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a client-focused professional looking to advance their career, broaden their sector experience, and make a lasting impact on projects that shape communities and create long-term value.
Your role
- Lead commercial delivery of projects, achieving agreed cost, quality, and programme targets.
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, forecasts, and contract administration activities across a variety of Clients.
- Maintain project profitability, financial control, and accurate forecasting. Responsible for governance, quality standards, and client KPIs.
- Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing and team development. Including supporting with CDP events.
- Support client account growth and identify new business opportunities. Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and business development opportunities.

About you
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost management across property and development projects.
- Strong NEC and/ or JCT contract knowledge. Desirable to have experience as and Employers Agent.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with experience delivering complex projects.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive successful project outcomes.
- Commercially aware, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
