Substation Design Engineer

Overview

Transmission and Distribution Division includes teams working on different industries –Power T&D team. The Power T&D team is presently working on projects in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and ME

The Power T&D team is looking for experienced engineers in HV Plant /Substations discipline, as we look to grow the team in line with business requirements. Your role

Using your experience and knowledge, you will be a part of the delivery of a variety of projects drawing upon the wider team for the technical engineering requirements and building a strong relationship with our clients. You will be client-facing, working with the team and making sure it meets our client's'expectations.

  • Technical Specification preparation
  • Design basis, feasibility report, technical reports etc
  • SLDs, Layouts, sections, calculations such as bus bar sizing, short circuit force, AC/Dc schematics, Erection diagrams, clearance diagrams, General arrangement of substation
  • You should have experience of substation for 400kV and above with latest international standards such as IEEE, IEC, etc
  • Complete design calculations – LVAC & DC System Sizing, CT & VT adequacy checks, Cable Sizing etc.
  • Contribute to Tendering activities by supporting with preliminary design documentation & drawings, Bill of Quantities, Engineering Man Hour Estimates etc.
  • Providing support for bids, cost estimation, preparation of tender documents etc
  • Mentoring other engineers and help them become better engineers.

About you

  • Graduate/post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering with around 5 to 10 years of experience in Design and engineering of HV substations up to 400kV or above.
  • Hands-on Experience in design substations, calculations, and FEED engineering
  • Ability to complete design deliverables – as per the Client requirement
  • Preference shall be given to those candidates who have experience with UK or USA Clients.
  • Ability to produce design documentation – Design Basis Report, Case Studies and Project Design Specification.
  • Be competent to check the design drawings & documents produced by other engineers, before the final approval by more competent engineers.
  • Member of IET & working towards Chartered Engineer accreditation.
  • Desirable – Worked in projects for UK, USA and other international locations
  • Strong English Communication Skills needed to co-ordinate with client and other internal stake holders.
  • Be a part of the team which is working at different geographical locations and co-ordinate for the needs of the project.
  • Knowledge in MS Office, AutoCAD 2D/3D, Grounding /earthing, ETAP, and Engineering calculations
