Essential for the Role:

  • Bachelor'S or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, and/or Communications Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership with recognized institutions (e.g., Institute of Engineering and Technology IET or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience involved in Electrical/Electronics, Traffic Signals, and/or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for Highways/ Infrastructure projects
  • Experience working on international projects, particularly in the UK, US, Canada, or the Middle East.
  • Design and develop traffic signalized intersections.
  • Design and develop Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), CCTV systems, MIDAS, HAWIS, HADECS, Vehicle detection systems, Emergency Roadside Telephones (ERT), and Power & Communication networks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs into broader transport and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to inform ITS design and implementation.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and drawings for Traffic Signal and ITS projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Traffic/ITS technologies and standards to ensure cutting-edge design solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure Traffic Signal and ITS designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of British, American, Canadian, and other international design standards and specifications.
  • Proficient in design software particularly AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Navisworks. LinSig, and Amtech/Trimble Pro for Electrical Calculations.
  • Familiarity with modern communication tools and online collaboration platforms.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office package.
  • Proven ability to deliver work within set time frames.
  • Experience/evidence and ability to work independently and manage small/medium size projects.

Desirable:

  • Previous work experience of Traffic Signals and/or Intelligent Transport System (ITS).
  • Experience of specification and programming of traffic signals controllers, and all signal modes including UTC/SCOOT and MOVA.
  • Experience working in an offshoring or global delivery environment.
  • Exposure to digital delivery methods.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with wider teams.
  • Proactive approach to staying updated with emerging technologies such as AI, Digital Twin, Edge Computing, Quantum Technology, and AI-powered traffic signal systems.
