Why AtkinsRéalis is perfect for your career comeback

Returning to work after a career break? Bindu shares how AtkinsRéalis can empower your return.

Hi, I'm Bindu, an Account Lead at AtkinsRéalis in India. I manage a team of eight that handles recruitment, sourcing, and talent acquisition across the People Hub in Bengaluru, the USA, and Canada.

How I found my way back to a professional career

Like many women faced with balancing work and family in a professional career, I put my career on hold. However, as my children became more independent, I felt the stirrings of my old career passion. Many women returning to the workforce experience challenges—especially after a ten-year career break. I needed determination to find my way back. My journey to AtkinsRéalis shows how the organization values being a supportive workplace for working mothers. Your background or career history doesn't matter here—it's all about your talent.

The challenges of re-entering the workforce after a career break

I was a recruitment lead before my break. Despite my experience and skills, I encountered resistance from employers who viewed my extended break as a disadvantage. I asked myself, "Are there SO few career opportunities for women in India?" I refused to be discouraged. I knew my worth and was determined to find a company that valued me for my resume, potential, and dedication.

How AtkinsRéalis supports working mothers in the workplace

That's when AtkinsRéalis came into the picture—an organization known for its inclusive culture and commitment to empowering its employees. The team at AtkinsRéalis saw beyond the gap in my employment history. They recognized the invaluable perspective and insights I could bring to the table. I joined as an Account Lead, overseeing projects like Voice Calling, USA, and conducting various audits for TA-Ops, USA.

One of India's most inclusive employers for women

At AtkinsRéalis, I found a community of like-minded individuals who support and encourage me every step of the way. The organization is dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone can enjoy a healthy work-life balance. We recently received the Great Place to Work certification and were recognized in India's 100 Best Companies for Women. Through training and mentorship programmes tailored to my needs, I regained my confidence, honing my skills and quickly becoming an integral part of the team.

At AtkinsRéalis, women in leadership roles post-career break thrive

Today, I thoroughly enjoy my role at AtkinsRéalis. I'm leveraging my diverse experiences to drive positive change and innovation within the company. My experience shows what's possible when determination meets opportunity. I hope it can inspire you if you've been facing similar challenges.

The rewards of a supportive work environment

I've been fortunate to receive several awards during my time at AtkinsRéalis, thanks to the incredible support from my colleagues and the opportunities provided by the organization. Some recognitions include the Runner-Up Star of the Year Award for 2023, multiple Targets Recruitment Campaign Awards in 2022 and 2023, and several WoW appreciations from stakeholders and the leadership team in the UK. Additionally, I was honored with the Hire Huddle Award for Best Customer Experience in 2023. These achievements have been a collective effort, and I'm grateful for the collaborative environment that has made them possible.

Inclusive workplaces matter for women returning to work

AtkinsRéalis gave me a second chance, a fresh start, and a place to be myself. I'm living proof of the organization's tireless commitment to unlocking the full potential of every employee, regardless of their background. In a world where talent is abundant but opportunities aren't always equitable, AtkinsRéalis stands out, showing you can achieve your dreams with the proper support and determination. It's never too late to rewrite your story and pursue fulfillment and success.
