“Don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek support, and take on challenges”: Annapoorna on solo travel, morning workouts, and growing fast in HR Operations

Annapoorna is an Analyst in HR Operations at AtkinsRéalis, supporting the US region as part of the North America team. She’s originally from Kasaragod in Kerala and is now based in Bangalore.

Outside of work, she’s someone who likes her own company.

“I love exploring new places on my own,” she says. “Solo trips help me recharge and become more confident and independent. I also love listening to music, nature photography, and drawing; these creative hobbies help me relax and express myself.”

There’s also the fitness routine. “On most days, I make sure to work out in the morning, it helps me start my day with the right energy and mindset.”

From a starter to driving global projects

Annapoorna’s role involves managing core onboarding processes for the United States, ensuring accuracy in employee data, timely processing of transactions, documentation, and compliance. She also handles data integration reports and collaborates with recruiters, HR Business Partners, hiring managers, and cross-functional teams across regions.

Since joining, her responsibilities have expanded significantly. She’s contributed to global offer letter testing, led learning initiatives through the “HR Skills for the Future” programme, and taken part in volunteering for the Badges Revamp project.

“I began by supporting core onboarding processes, and over time I’ve taken additional responsibilities. These experiences have helped me strengthen my skills in stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration.”

The lead who made the difference

When asked who inspires her at AtkinsRéalis, Annapoorna is clear.

“I’m deeply inspired by my lead, Suma. Her supportive leadership, patience, and dedication to guiding me through every stage of my learning journey have had a significant impact on my growth. Suma always made time to support me. Her trust in assigning me key responsibilities and additional projects played an important role in my growth.”

“She leads by example, combining strong process expertise with empathy and approachability. Her encouragement to take on new responsibilities helped me build confidence and step outside my comfort zone.”

What International Women’s Day means

“International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder of how far women have come, the barriers that still need to be addressed, and the importance of creating environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered,” Annapoorna says.

“In the workplace, it matters because it promotes inclusion, encourages equal opportunities, and creates a culture where everyone can grow and contribute meaningfully.”

Her advice

“Believe in yourself and make the most of every opportunity. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek support, and take on challenges, the environment here is supportive, inclusive, and designed to help you grow.”
