Overview

AtkinsRéalis's Minerals and Metals team in Canada is made up of more than 400 employees who work on large-scale projects to support mining sustainability, pit-to-port opportunities, metallurgical plant engineering, or mine closure and capabilities in the study, design, and construction of mining projects across a wide range of mining and processing methods and commodities. The team combines global-caliber expertise to provide tailored solutions for projects of any size, scope, or complexity. We are seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Department. The successful candidate will report to the Civil and Structural Engineering Department Manager. The person in this position will work closely with all disciplines (engineering, HSE, procurement, quality, etc.) and project management to manage design responsibilities and to resolve design related issues associated with the project.

This role will be based in Toronto, ON.

Your role

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the development of front-end, preliminary, and detailed designs for industrial process and non-process buildings and facilities under the guidance of the architectural group lead.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including drawings, design reports, cost estimates, construction specifications, building lists, bid documents, and technical documentation in accordance with client and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, HSE, procurement, quality, and project management) to support the coordination and execution of design activities.
  • Participate in the implementation of project design strategies and contribute to resolving design-related issues.
  • Perform quality checks on design work to ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis QA/QC standards and project specifications.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and other project documentation.

About you

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an Architectural Designer, preferably within industrial buildings and facilities; experience in mining or heavy industrial environments is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D design using AutoCAD and Revit; experience with Civil 3D, Advance Steel, or other BIM tools is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and handle confidential information with professionalism.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $65,000 - $89,300 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
