Civil & Utilities Technologist

Overview

As a member of the Municipal Infrastructure team within the Civil Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for Canada, you will work in a collaborative, fast‑paced, and team-oriented environment, supporting the delivery of major Transit Rail and civil infrastructure projects.

As a Civil & Utilities Technologist, you will support civil and utilities design activities under the guidance of senior designers and engineers. You will gain exposure to civil infrastructure design including utilities, roadworks, drainage, grading, rail, and structures, while contributing to the preparation of drawings, models, and technical documentation throughout various project phases.

Your role

  • Assist in the preparation of civil and utilities engineering drawings, plans, profiles, cross‑sections, and quantity take‑offs for infrastructure works including earthworks, grading, roadworks, and drainage.
  • Support the development and modification of design models and drawings based on preliminary concepts, specifications, engineering directives, and client standards.
  • Prepare basic calculations, design checks, and technical documentation under the supervision of senior designers and engineers.
  • Support project teams with document control, design revisions, and responses to internal and external comments.
  • Participate in meetings with project team members and assist in addressing client and stakeholder requirements.

About you

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
  • 2–4 years of experience in civil infrastructure or utilities design (co‑op or internship experience will be considered).
  • Exposure to civil site works, underground utilities, stormwater drainage, grading, or roadworks is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Ontario civil, transportation, and municipal design standards is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge & experience of AutoCAD and Civil 3D; MicroStation, OpenRoads.
  • Knowledge of BIM 360, Project wise and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $65,000 - $85,000 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
