Overview
Manage and coordinate all technical, operational, and maintenance activities within the rail depot to ensure availability and reliability of rolling stock and depot infrastructure.
Your role
- Manage all technical and operational activities within the rail depot including stabling, maintenance facilities, wash plants, fuelling systems, and depot infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for rolling stock, depot equipment, and building services.
- Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure maximum rolling stock availability in alignment with operational requirements.
- Manage and oversee depot contractor and subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
- Liaise with rolling stock, operations, facilities management, and systems engineering teams to ensure depot operational readiness.
- Monitor depot Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including fleet availability, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and maintenance turnaround times.
- Conduct depot safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; implement corrective actions to address identified hazards.
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities for new rolling stock deliveries and depot equipment installations.
- Manage interface coordination between depot civil works and rail systems (signalling, traction power, telecoms).
- Prepare and manage the depot maintenance budget, tracking expenditure and identifying cost optimisation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain depot operational procedures, maintenance instructions, and safety management documentation.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of rolling stock maintenance practices and depot operations.
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Understanding of HSE regulations and safe systems of work in depot environments.
- Familiarity with RAMS principles and their application to maintenance planning.

About you
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering preferred (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- 15+ years' experience in engineering (10+ years' experience in rail and transit engineering in Middle East).
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is generally required. However, extensive experience may be substituted in lieu of licensing.
