Deputy Accelerator Design Manager

Overview

The Deputy Accelerator Design Manager role will be hired under the Engineering Management Centre of Excellence group within the Engineering Management Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada. The Deputy Accelerator Design Manager role will play a support role in the delivery of Engineering Services on a large project under the project.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the candidate will lead and coordinate the implementation of multidisciplinary design standards and works collaboratively with the main contractor. Responsibilities include oversight of pre-construction phase services, client interface at multiple levels, design consultancy management, facilitating design reviews, external stakeholder management, and technical assistance.

Location Requirements:

  • In person 5 days a week at project office.

Your role

  • Support the Design Manager during: Design meetings, Working groups, Progressive procurement and tender review sessions.
  • Assist with: Preparation of meeting agendas and materials (Slide Decks PP),Tracking of discussion items, decisions, and action items, Follow-up on agreed actions with relevant parties.
  • Help ensure: Design-related assumptions discussed in meetings are clearly recorded, Interface or risk items raised are visible and escalated appropriately.
  • Support consistency in: Application of design processes, Alignment with client's design governance and stage expectations, Act as a point of continuity across meetings when the Design Manager is attending multiple parallel forums.

About you

  • Degree in civil engineering, construction, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years' experience supporting design or engineering teams on large infrastructure, buildings or transportation projects.
  • Strong ability to:
    • Capture technical discussions accurately.
    • Document decisions, assumptions, and action items clearly.
    • Track follow-up items across multiple meetings.
  • Comfortable working in:
    • Multi-stakeholder environments.
    • Fast-paced programs with parallel workstreams.
    • Proficient with common project tools (e.g., meeting minutes, registers, document platforms, ACC, SharePoint, design deliverables monitoring).
  • Relevant professional designation is considered an asset.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $80,700 - 111,000 CAD annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
