Overview
AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. is looking for an Environmental Technician to join our environmental and community programs team for a seasonal assignment from May through August. This role supports field-based environmental initiatives focused on soil assessment and management, contributing to programs that protect health and the environment. The Trail Area Health & Environment Program (THEP) is a community program promoting health and the environment in the Trail BC area. THEP's focus is to promote children's'healthy development and preventing lead exposure. We work with families and local residents, offering a comprehensive program of supports and up-to-date information. With over 25 years experience, our program has greatly improved air quality and reduced lead exposure in children through various programs including Family Health, Air Quality and Home & Garden. Our collaborative approach has been recognized with a BC Premier's'Award . The AtkinsRéalis office in Trail delivers the Community Program Office portion of the THEP including soil assessment, soil management, the Healthy Homes, and Lead-safe Renovation support programs.
Your Role
Support field activities related to soil assessment and soil management programs on residential properties.
Collect standardized environmental data, including soil and paint screening information.
Operate specialized equipment such as X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) devices for sample screening.
Conduct ground cover and site evaluations using ESRI ArcGIS data collection applications.
Maintain accurate field notes, records, photographs, and measurement logs.
Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members on field progress and priorities.
Work safely as part of a team while supporting additional environmental monitoring tasks as needed.
About You
Currently enrolled in a recognized environmental program and participating in a co‑operative education program
Ability to apply environmental field sampling and monitoring techniques with precision.
Proficiency in using GIS tools and mobile data collection applications.
Aptitude for maintaining detailed records with strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with team members, residents, and the public.
Valid driver's license and willingness to work outdoors in variable climatic conditions.
