Fire Protection Technologist

Overview

The Engineering Services Division is currently looking for a Fire Protection Engineer or Technologist to support various projects across Canada. Our team focuses on major infrastructure projects in nuclear, defence, industrial and other markets. We are looking for innovative, critical thinking people who enjoy the challenge to apply the principles of fire safety science to the built environment.

Within the context of Canadian building and fire codes, you will be asked to support and develop fire protection systems design packages building code reports, performance based design and fire hazard analysis. This is a client facing role that requires excellent communication and project management skills.

Your role

  • Prepare building code reports, fire hazard assessments and other technical documents.
  • Prepare alternative compliance solutions for performance-based design.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines in planning and executing project tasks.
  • Represent the fire protection discipline within AtkinsRéalis in the development of external clients.
  • Lead and mentor fire protection and other discipline members through complex problems in the field of fire protection engineering.
  • Ability to navigate through difficult concepts and provide summary to non-experts.

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or Diploma in fire protection engineering technology or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or certification from a recognized engineering association is an asset.
  • Experience in the nuclear field of fire protection engineering an asset (CSA N293, N393). UL Solutions Integrated System Testing Certification (CAN/ULC-S1001) an asset.
  • Experience in independently preparing technical reports that clearly outline objectives with minimal guidance from senior team members. Communicate different perspectives to senior level clients and internal stakeholders. Able to manage objections and demonstrate a different point of view.
  • Submit for and maintain a federal security clearance.
  • Valid driver's license

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $115,000 - $150,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
