Labour Relations Specialist

Overview


Our Nuclear Division is currently looking for a Labour Relations Specialist to be part of our team. The position will be reporting to the Vice President, Labour Relations, and shall perform a range of Labour Relations functions as part of the Labour Relations Centre of Excellence model within a matrix organization.

The Labour Relations Specialist provides analytical, research, and coordination support to the Labour Relations function. This role is suited for a developing professional with 2–4 years of experience who brings strong data analysis capabilities, advanced Excel skills, and foundational knowledge of unionized environments. The Specialist supports grievance administration, reporting, and research initiatives that enable informed decision-making and effective labour relations practices.

Your role

  • Collect, validate, and analyze labour relations data, including grievances, arbitrations, payroll and time entry data, and trends.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Excel (pivot tables, lookups, and formulas).
  • Track key labour relations metrics and identify patterns or emerging issues.
    Support the development of data-driven insights to inform labour relations strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized data systems and tracking tools.
  • Coordinate and administer aspects of the grievance process, including intake, logging, tracking timelines, and file maintenance.
  • Assist in entire grievance lifecycle including preparing grievance summaries, documentation, and litigation support.
  • Promote consistent and compliant labour relations practices across the organization.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather relevant information for case files.
  • Conduct research on economic trends, labour legislation, arbitration decisions, collective agreement settlements and industry trends.
  • Support collective bargaining preparation through data gathering and analysis.
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and summaries for Labour Relations leadership.
  • Provide coordination support for investigations, meetings, and hearings.
  • Assist in interpreting collective agreements and policies with guidance from senior team members.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, templates, and training materials.
    Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and collective agreements.
  • Work closely with HR business partners, managers, and Labour Relations team members.
  • Support communication and coordination with union representatives as required.
  • Respond to routine inquiries related to labour relations processes and data.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial or Labour Relations, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in HR, labour relations, or an analytical role.
  • Basic understanding of collective agreements, grievance processes, and labour relations principles.
  • Familiarity with labour legislation
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data organization).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify trends, and present insights.
    High attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong research and information synthesis skills.
  • Ability to translate findings into clear, concise reports.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience tracking workflows, deadlines, and documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present data and information to varied audiences.
