MEP Engineer (Mechanical inc. FP - EM and CS)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions within railway projects. This role will be responsible for reviewing technical documentation and supervision of the construction works related with its disciplines, including HVAC, hydraulic systems and fire protection, for new and updated assets of railway facilities. The successful candidate will perform detailed review of documentation including design drawings and reports, shop drawings and as-build documentations ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and requirements, ensuring robust and compliant engineering outcomes. You will work hand with hand with the electrical engineer and will interface with internal and external stakeholders supporting effecting collaboration and ensuring successful project delivery across all stages from the concept design until the final hand-over, including testing and commissioning.

Your role

  • Managing the mechanical and fire protection elements of a project from conceptualisation to completion, ensuring adherence to project design specifications and timelines.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, contractors and project managers, commercial staff, and project controls team to develop project plans and budgets.

  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.

  • Ensuring projects meet specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.

  • Review the technical documentation related with the discipline for completeness and compliance with the project requirements, interface, stakeholder requirements and applicable standards. These will include, not limited to, design submissions at different stages, shop drawings, as-built drawings, calculations, assessments, technical specifications, interface documents, value engineering reports, material requests, system code classifications, bill of quantities.

  • Contribute to produce multidisciplinary reviews of the technical documents to ensure full coordination of the deliverables.

  • Participate in producing and reviewing value engineering proposals.

  • Conduct quality inspections and oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues, and deviations from the baseline(s), in collaboration with the Project Control Teams.

  • Report regularly in accordance with the project and company policies.

  • Ensure adherence to the project and company quality program and policies.

  • Stay updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.

  • Promote culture of safety.

  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.

About you

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering,

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and fire protection, preferably combining construction supervision and technical review.

  • Experience performing engineering work in accordance with railway systems procedures, standards, and practices, and KSA regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in mechanical engineering.

  • Working knowledge of/experience using mechanical and fire protection codes and standards applicable to railway systems in KSA, including not limited to Saudi Building Code, Civil Defence requirements, NFPA standards.

  • Experience in analysis of project requirements and check for their implementation in technical documentation and in the site works, through site inspections and testing processes.

  • Used to work in coordination with multidiscipline teams and in collaboration with the cross functions of the project organization.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make decisions in dynamic project environments.

  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality mechanical projects.
