Overview
We are seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer Energy to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN.
Your role
Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
Supports processing and project activities as matrixed technical support staff providing the Operations Manager with Safety Analysis (SA) expertise and counsel on those activities.
Supports the Safety Analysis Lead in the implementation of the SA Program, including development of related training materials.
Supports the Safety Analysis Lead in ensuring SA related documents and analysis are compliant with 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and appropriate DOE command media and are technically accurate and defensible.
Performs assessments of the SA and Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Programs and their implementation as directed and participates in critiques/investigations involving SA related issues, as requested.
Implements the USQ Program, including development of related training materials.
Interfaces as directed with other external stakeholders (e.g., Defense Nuclear Facilities Review Board) relative to safety analysis activities and issues. Assists in identification and/or development of SA implementation/compliance training in support of activities and develops and reports on SA performance indicators.
Provides technical and regulatory interpretation on matters related to SA Program, including applicable contract requirements.
Provides recommendations to the Safety Basis Lead and Nuclear Safety Manager regarding USQ issues and significant SA issues.
Prepares safety basis documents (e.g., Documented Safety Analyses, Technical Safety Requirements, Hazards Analyses) and supporting technical documentation (e.g., calculations, white papers, reports).
Supports the integration of SA and design for projects and major modifications, including development of Safety Design Strategies, Conceptual Safety Design Reports, Preliminary Documented Safety Analyses, and Backfit Analysis.
Reviews drafts of Work Packages/Orders, procedures, facility modifications, and other documents for integration of the SA into facility activities.
Provides technical support for Design Basis Threat Analyses, All-Hazards Surveys, Emergency Preparedness Hazards Assessments, and Transportation Documented Safety Analyses as requested.
Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture.
Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
Baccalaureate in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science OR four-year degree (or higher) and four years Safety Analysis experience.
Minimum of 2 years' job-related experience at a nuclear facility.
Working knowledge and application of the development of safety basis strategies and safety basis documents in the DOE complex in accordance with 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and related DOE orders, guides, and standards (e.g., Order 420.1C, DOE-STD-1189, DOESTD-3009).
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
Proficiency in Hazards and Accident Analysis techniques and approaches.
Proficiency in the use of DOE Tool Box Codes (preferred).
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
Must have Real ID compliant identification to access the work location.
US citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions.
Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Additional information
Expected compensation range is between $72,000-$120,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
