The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support refurbishment, retube, field services, and new-build nuclear projects. This role combines design engineering expertise with field execution support, providing technical leadership throughout the full lifecycle of tooling, equipment, and mechanical systems from concept development through deployment, commissioning, maintenance, and field operations.
The successful candidate will lead complex engineering assignments, support tooling and field execution activities, mentor junior staff, and interface with clients, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery.
Your role within the team
- Lead conceptual, preliminary, and detailed mechanical design activities for Retube Tooling, specialized equipment, and field service systems.
- Execute and oversee engineering work packages supporting refurbishment, retube, maintenance, outage, and new-build projects.
- Provide technical leadership for design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning, deployment, and field implementation activities.
- Support field execution teams by resolving technical issues, developing corrective actions, and providing engineering guidance during equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables including design requirements, design descriptions, technical specifications, calculations, drawings, test procedures, commissioning plans, operating instructions, and design change packages.
- Perform and verify engineering analyses related to machine design, structural integrity, mechanisms, materials, hydraulics, pneumatics, lifting systems, and pressure-retaining components.
- Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, technologists, designers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and field staff.
- Interface directly with clients, vendors, contractors, and station personnel to define requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers, designers, and technologists.
- Travel periodically to customer sites and nuclear generating stations to support installation, commissioning, outage execution, inspections, and troubleshooting activities.

About You
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for registration.
- Typically 8-12 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, equipment, automation, field engineering, or nuclear projects.
- Strong understanding of machine design, mechanics of materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical system integration.
- Experience leading engineering tasks and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting field execution, commissioning, maintenance, outage, or refurbishment activities is an asset.
- Familiarity with nuclear industry codes and standards including ASME and CSA requirements is an asset.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Creo, or Inventor.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.

- Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear security clearance and access authorization.
